Do not know, whether it has been asked before, but I would like to know, what this „political staff“ in the SS units is.
Never heard about such a thing. The number of NSFOs should not be in the hundreds. [:D]

Its named like that to distinguish it from the regular staff. The SS staff troops & officers are in general less capable, but more ideological. Hence SS staff gives less combat bonus, but more morale bonus.

best,
vic

Thanks for the answer, Vic.
Understood, but you have evidente, that this statement is correct for 1944?
For 1940 or 1941 it is understandable but after 3 years of fighting on the Eastern Front?
Maybe the higher staff is more political, but the lower officers, which are important on a Btl. and Reg. level should be of the same caliber as their Wehrmacht counterparts.
Or is this assumption really wrong?

Name is changed in beta patch, so no more "political" staff ;-)

According to Danny Parker - Battle of the Bulge p 330 - both Von Mantueffel’s and Dietrich’s chief of staff noted substantial deficiencies in the training conditions of the SS organizations at the commander and subordinate commander level. Lack of road discipline was a serious issue on the SS side and seems to have been a problem originating with the staff.

I think Vic is right here. The SS emphasis was on elements of morale, not on the military professionalism and the other strengths and issues that had made the German Army successful throughout WW2.
