cblattmann -> Campaign Files missing after installation (12/11/2021 4:03:01 AM)

I got WarPlan Pacific on the Christmas sale and installed it in the default directory only to find that that when I press the Play button in the launcher I get the message "Error: Could not find indicated location. C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\WarPlan Pacific\WarPlan Pacific.exe. But it is there. Then I think I do not need the launcher and double click on the Exe file, press New Game and see no Campaigns. Not a single Campaign is there. This makes it impossible for me to play the game. I was not able to locate any campaign files.

So I uninstall the game and try again. Same issues.

Can anyone help?

Funny, looks like the launcher problem is now coming in WPP. I have described a solution for WPE here:

The launcher is made by Matrix not by Alvaro.

It should solve your problem.

For the campaign missing, I am wondering if this is not coming as well from administrator rights.

Did you try to uninstall the game and reinstall it by launching the installer executable with administrator rights?

I did all you said. Tried a couple times installing it into the default directory. Still does not find EXE file and when I do the quick launch the campaign files are not there when I select a new game. No idea what is gong there.

Where are the campaign files supposed to be and what are their names. Would like to verify if they are physically present on my hard-drive (which they should).

Do not think the default folder is:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\WarPlan Pacific\

But:

C:\Matrix Games\WarPlan Pacific\

In fact no games should be installed in "Program files" folders because cause administrator rights headaches since Windows 7 UAC "feature".

Try installing there instead.

Let me do a fresh reinstall of the game. and see what is going on.

Just 100% uninstalled and reinstalled from the setup then the update.

It installed and updated correctly on the file dates.

I have seen where somehow it tries to install on the Onedrive.

Check the permissions.
Or when you run the installer run as admin.
Security programs can really mess up installers thinking they are viruses.

Like if you have Norton installed which is on every PC you buy from a company. If I buy a store PC for my family I remove it. It has caused nothing but trouble for me. Windows Defender is good enough.

But for people who don't install anything but big well known big company programs and are prone to click links they don't understand then Norton will protect them.

Personally I run no A/V. Once a month I do run a scan.

Thank you Alvaro for posting. Here is what I did on the Campaign Files I might know what happened (which I think is to a large part my doing)

I went and deleted my virtual machine and got rid of everything. Reinstalled Windows and installed WarPlan.
The Launcher still does not open up the game properly (so I need to look at the permissions again) but the campaigns are now where they are supposed to be. That is great.

Here is what might have happened. I wanted to install WarPlan in a different directory. I thought by selecting a different directory and append it in the textbox with the name of the new directory (without physically actually creating on the HD) the the installer would handle everything. But then I saw issues. The launcher did not work properly and the campaign files were missing (maybe due to a wrong path). Then I uninstalled the game and maybe here again because of the path not everything was removed properly from the HD and/or registry. And no matter how many time I uninstalled and reinstalled it did not work. I went into the registry and found values from other paths. That is when I decided to ditch my virtual machine.

At least now I am able to play it.

Hope this makes some sense to you Alvaro.

The launcher is a little finicky.
