Hano -> What Trackers/Tools are people using (12/16/2021 8:47:02 AM)

Hi,

I'm a relative newbie, I played WIP when it first came out and then upgraded to AE ten+ years ago, had a break and came back to it a year ago I'm in Apr 45 fighting a Grand Campaign against the AI. I'm already thinking about my next game, so far I've done this dumb without any of the trackers or tools that people have created and found it really hard.
I would like to try one of the add on tools I tried WIP Tracker but couldnt get it to work a year ago and gave up, what tools are people using and how useful are they?

dcissell -> RE: What Trackers/Tools are people using (12/16/2021 9:27:50 AM)

I would like that too.

Yaab -> RE: What Trackers/Tools are people using (12/16/2021 9:45:36 AM)

I only use Tracker.

In Tracker I mostly use:

Ship Alerts -for finding ships arriving/repaired/converted
LCU alerts - for finding LCUs arriving at destinations
Device - for checking pools/ device data comparison
and some industry data (China supplies, supply spoilage).

Nomad -> RE: What Trackers/Tools are people using (12/16/2021 10:43:24 AM)

I use Tracker and Combat Reporter which is found here https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2456864

12doze12 -> RE: What Trackers/Tools are people using (12/16/2021 11:44:14 AM)

Tracker

Essential to more easily analyze just about anything in the game (plan convoys, monitor bases/TFs/ship repair, etc)
A lot of it (not everything) you can do in-game but the Tracker is easier to use and adds more functionalities for analysis

https://sites.google.com/site/witptracker

Combat Reporter

Go over Combat Reports and Operation Reports more easily by category and jump to map location where they happen

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2456864

Archive Searcher

A search engine for Combat and Operation Reports, quickly get information about the history of base/ship/unit (ie. how much CAP did a base have last time you Swept it)

I've just got Combat Reporter up and running I'm struggling with Tracker which is a real shame

What is your struggle with Tracker?

Ian R -> RE: What Trackers/Tools are people using (12/17/2021 4:35:04 AM)

I don't use any of them anymore. There used to be something called intelmonkey that was useful, but I'm not sure if it was ever translated from WITP to AE. Maybe it's been replaced by archive searcher.

+1 on this. I found combination of this probably more than you will ever need, along with a nice Excel sheet for some planning.

LargeSlowTarget -> RE: What Trackers/Tools are people using (12/17/2021 8:48:39 AM)

I use no tools at all, just Eyeballs Mark I and Brains Beta (still under development and not gone gold yet). I have to use tons of tools and tracking sheets at work, the last thing I want to do in my favorite spare time activity is to use even more tools and sheets. The game can be played perfectly well without any tools.

Edit: The only "tool" I use is in-game - I have replaced the credits screen ("m" key) with a "cheat sheet" :

Ian R -> RE: What Trackers/Tools are people using (12/17/2021 9:49:34 AM)

You could put your cheat sheet on a second screen (among other things).

Well yes, but I usually play while lounging on the couch or in bed with the laptop on my beer belly (which gives just the correct eye height needed [:D]) - no space for a second screen. My big screen is hooked to my work laptop in my home office (which fortunately is big enough to house the work rig plus the gaming laptop *if need be* [sm=innocent0009.gif])

This is a concept I am fully conversant with [:D]

I'll hazard the guess that it is the case for many forumites. Cheers bro [sm=00000436.gif]

Intelmonkey is witpqs' baby. If it is not stickied on the main forum page, PM him about where to get it. He is also knowledgeable about Tracker. You do need to get a Java version to run Tracker.

Yaab -> RE: What Trackers/Tools are people using (12/17/2021 7:33:54 PM)

Yep, conquer Java and you get Tracker.

Nomad -> RE: What Trackers/Tools are people using (12/17/2021 7:37:49 PM)

Intel monkey is found here: https://sites.google.com/view/staffmonkeys/home

Just to note that some Anti Virus and Anti Malware programs will flag it as bad.
You might have to white list it or whatever to allow it to run.

The link works fine for me, I have no idea why you are getting that error.
When you go to that link you should get a page that has a big Staff Monkeys hyperlink
in the middle. Select it, then on the next page on the left select Intel Monkey.
On the next page scroll to the bottom and on the right is a down arrow, select it
and put the download where you want it.

Ian R -> RE: What Trackers/Tools are people using (12/17/2021 11:27:27 PM)

Thanks, I have it now.

DesertWolf101 -> RE: What Trackers/Tools are people using (12/18/2021 6:26:18 AM)

Much like LargeSlowTarget, I don't use any tools whatsoever. I also use enough of those in my professional life so I don't want to use tools in my gaming. I certainly recognize the advantage they can offer, but they are definitely not a prerequisite either. You can become an excellent player without them.

Tanaka -> RE: What Trackers/Tools are people using (12/18/2021 6:46:18 PM)

I use Tracker and Combat Reporter only which is enough for me. I used to not use them but once I got them working and figured out to keep them working I cannot imagine ever going back to not using them. You never miss a unit arrival or forget to move a unit or activate a new or repaired unit. These are the best reasons to use them in my opinion. And of course everything is tracked. No stone is left unturned...

Hano -> RE: What Trackers/Tools are people using (12/20/2021 4:28:29 PM)

Hi sorry for the delay in replying.

I cant get it to work, I'm running Windows 10 on a 64bit system I have Java 8 64 & 32 bit installed.

I couldnt get it to work, is it neccessary to uninstall Java 8, then install java 6, remove that and replace it with java 8, I had no idea which version of java 6 I needed.

Any help you can give would be hugely appreciated I just lose track of things when I'm playing it on the go so as to speak.

So the trick for me was deleting java in all locations. Reinstalling latest Java 32 and 64 in my location of choice. And then putting the Java 32 exe in the Tracker folder. Same for Combat Reporter. Both work great now.

Hano -> RE: What Trackers/Tools are people using (12/21/2021 4:24:42 PM)

I've got combat reporter working just fine...

I had another go last night.. uninstalled java, downloaded java 6 as described in the wiptracker installing Java 6 instructions, copied it and renamed it, then installed Java 8 64 bit and java 8 32 bit but i get this error message:

[image]local://upfiles/31242/C41CA97FC70742B5B5E952EA0598AB31.jpg[/image]

Nomad -> RE: What Trackers/Tools are people using (12/21/2021 4:37:11 PM)

That is because you are using Java as the program name. That will take you to the standard 64-bit java. Use the complete path like this

"c:\32 bit java\installation\bin\java.exe" -Xms768m -Xmx768m -jar "WitPTracker.jar"
pause

And for everyone's information, combat Reporter will work just fine using the 64-bit Java.
The problem with Tracker using it is the pwsdll7.dll is a 32-bit dll.

Nexira -> RE: What Trackers/Tools are people using (1/8/2022 5:31:40 AM)

I get "cannot access witptracker.jar" whenever i try to use tracker, i have the right java, its linked to it fine, i downloaded everything the tracker sit said i needed (re tried with that multiple times), just cant get it to work. Am i missing something stupid?

HansBolter -> RE: What Trackers/Tools are people using (1/8/2022 9:55:25 AM)

None.

Tracker is useless to someone who doesn't save in the same slot.

I'm pretty sure you should just be able to rename the save file to be the slot name you have Tracker set up for.
