Anybody want to try out Skyline Drive? It is a nice short one to break into PBEM. I will try either side or we can do mirror games. Should be fun!

I'd be willing to give it a try. But I can't find anything in the manual on how to do it. Just tell me how to to do it and pick a side.

Hi Miles. I am afraid I have already started that game and right now, I can only do the one game. I would guess if you put up a challenge, you will find some opponents fairly quickly.

The PBEM is pretty easy. Once you select the scenario and the main screen comes up, you select the Password and PBEM protection options. Set both opponent choices to human. When you hit start, you create your password. Then play your turn as normal. At end turn, the turn is saved. Then you attach the saved turn to an email which you send to your opponent. He will download the attachment into the saved folder and good to go. It is pretty straight forward.

Jagger you must be quite deadly at PBEM games. You are the master that cracked the Stavelot puzzle which puts you near Sun Tzu level of strategic skills.

Hehe...no, not in the least. I solved Stavelot by looking at what the Peiper KG and the 2SS did historically. Then I duplicated their movements and it worked. The one key was to ignore Trois Ponts with Peipers KG which allows them to reach La Gleize and Cheneux quicker. I may also have used a officer speed card at some point. Together, those two towns are good defensive positions which are tough for the Americans to take and seal off their advance. Plus the 2SS needs to do their part and take enough VP locations to get over the hump for a victory. Definitely a fun little scenario that I suspect Sun Tzu or Patton would have solved a bit quicker than me.

I feel it is ironic that Pieper was so determined to advance as far as possible despite the worst weather and road conditions possible because the further he got, the more danger he put his group in.

I agree on Pieper. He was definitely a hard charger despite the risk. He would have been a good cavalry officer. Maybe another General Murat or perhaps a Lord Raglan if he had been born in a different time and place.

Pieper was doing well on the Eastern Front. It would have been a lot better if Pieper, and other skilled commanders like Manteuffel and Balck, had been left in Russia to help slow down the ruthless Soviets which they were better at cause they had experience there.

The man is called Peiper, not Pieper. ;)
Peiper = pronounced "Pyper"
Pieper = pronounced "Peeper"

That being said, his unit was responsible for the Malmedy massacre. I find it a bit odd that the generals' informations windows list decorations and promotions but leaves out warcrimes.
