cathar1244 -> overlay hex grid on image file (12/21/2021 9:41:34 AM)

In Captain Maxwell's thread regarding his phenomenal work with QGIS, I mentioned that I would like to have an app that overlayed a hex grid on an image file as an aid in making maps. So, found this. Paint.net is a free graphics program. With paint.net, one can obtain plugins. The plugin "hexagrid.dll" can be put into the "effects" folder of paint.net . Load a map into paint.net as an image. Then go to the menu "effects-->render-->hexagonal grid From there, one can size the hexes, orient the grain, etc. Seems easier than using mkhexgrid. Here is an image I produced just as a test.
