Cavalry Corp -> 1941 Contact attrition - overwhelming on Rumanians... (12/27/2021 3:08:27 PM)

Just started PBEM fist campaign as axis...

What are the best ways to reduce "contact" attrition - not talking about attacking. My Rumanians in 41 campaign are dying in droves just standing next to weak Russian units and its only sept 41!

Is it CPP points?
Supply?
Fatigue

Not sure what I need to avoid doing, all these seem to make sense. or is a it a combo of all of them. Can Rumanians do anything at all?? The game seems very harsh on them compared to others.

its a product of low morale, same reason that the Soviets lose so many in the attrition phases till 1944.

what can you do:

a) be careful with them
b) get their morale up by a few judicious wins
c) on the assumption you don't manage to lose 750k men in a siege of Odessa the Rumanian army in the east will be ahistorically large for two reasons

c1) the second wave of releases only happened to replace the lost formations, so really no lost formations, no releases would be a good rule
c2) you have a lot of manpower so any weakened units refit in a turn

d) in general I manage them by TOE, once a formation is <60% I pull it out to refit. Due to the above this is quick and easy

Thats a good idea on to cycle them on reserves to refit. As I have there supply always set to one.

In the spring `42 i was out of manpower for Rumanians vs AI game. AI managed to route a lot of them and then surrender 3 divisions.
