MB00 -> shipyards (12/28/2021 12:25:07 AM)

While i can build shipyards....they tend to go into shipyard "available" status ...and NEVER into shipyard stockpile. Hence, even though one builds shipyards...one can never use them. why? how do i get access to the new shipyards to use them and build ships?

oh...i went into the editor and added ship production for the future. As ships in the production queue...do they use oil...even though the ships are NOT on the map?

The US appear to have only 10 shipyards in "stockpile" use. How then do they build landing ships, etc?

its a build option under support units. they will enter build que and eventually your available shipyards to build new war ships will have expanded.

your key word is "AVAILABLE" shipyards. yeah, i get that part.
Unless/until the shipyards move over to "STOCKPILE" shipyards...
one can NOT build ships of any type ... even merchant marine, escorts, landing ships, etc.

After two game years of waiting....they NEVER moved from "available" shipyards to "stockpile" shipyards.

Could very well be a bug on your installation as overall I never encountered any problem with it. And I guarantee neither did my opponents, I saw enough US LCs to testify to that![X(]

But just to make sure we are talking about the same thing. What I assume you mean by Available is the number on the left under "economy". So in 1939, the US has 40 available and 16 stockpile.

Shipyards do not "move" from available to "stockpile". Available is the total existing in the # in the country (this number will never go down) of which x are available (not in use).

So in 1939, in the US, out of 40 SY, 24 SY are in use (building the Washington BB group) leaving 14 in stockpile and ready to use.

It will take more than a year and a half to finish the Washington BB group, so those 24 are stuck there for a while. And building new SY will take more than a year to finish and you can not build many early on, so yes it will take while to be able to build a lot of LC. Although for escorts, that should not be a problem, the PPs limits will most probably kick in before the SY limit.

yes, IF i load the original 1939 campaign...i see the 40 and 16 numbers.
In my enthusiasm, i used the editor to add ships to the production queue...to the tune of USA 110 shipyards available.(Sept 1 1939)
Likewise with UK...with 100 shipyards available.

I did NOT see a slot for adding initial shipyards in the editor.

Somehow, as i add/build more shipyards...they simply sink into the "available" pool.
I got up to 150 shipyards in one game....all in the "available" pool.

via editor...i added following ships to production queue.
UK added DD 1-10 + DE 1-6
USA added DD 1-6 + CV 1-4

Germany got about 15 subs added. :)

game date Aug 15 41....UK has 150 "available" shipyards, but 0 shipyards in stockpile
also zero oil! dead game at this point.

i do not see an attachment mechanism here...or i would include a copy of a game file for your perview.
found my file but when try upload...says fakepath xxx not supported? ie. C:\users\mbennett\documents\my games\warplan\saved games\cdec21 440630b1.sav ok...i see ".sav" files are NOT supported. grump

tis possible my physical copy of the game was installed in drive C...then upgraded to 1.00.15 .
not sure what copy it uses from starting game from matrix mypage section.
i see i have another version of WARPLAN on drive D i dont see any saved files associated with drive D.

Ok, I get it now. But this is above my pay grade. I know little about the editor. I'll leave to Alvaro. However one or two players here seem to have very good experience with the editor to.
