CaesarAug -> Interception clarification (1/6/2022 5:22:37 PM)

The SC game manuals state that fighters on auto or intercept modes will intercept enemy air attacks if the attacked unit is within the strike range and land spotting range of the intercepting fighter. For carriers, if in CAP mode or Mixed mode with auto CAP or intercept mode, and if the attacked unit is within the strike range and naval spotting range of the intercepting carrier.

How does this factor in with a fighter’s / carrier’s intercept range?

My experience shows that only the Intercept range in the editor is used, not the Strike range, and the spotting distances have nothing to do with it.

Thanks, Elessar2. Yes, that’s my experience as well. Hence my query. Perhaps this is an old feature that remained in the manuals after the game dynamics were changed. It’s so odd that references to intercept range are not mentioned in these explanations, but curiously, only as fighter stats.

It probably is archaic, thanks for mentioning this, I'll make a note to look at it for the next round of updates to the Manuals.
