The Land -> Segmentation violation when removing a major (1/15/2022 2:47:27 PM)

Hello - I am getting a "segmentation violation" error followed by a crash when attempting to remove a major from the list of majors. The country is Yugoslavia and it's 9th on the list of major power, with the "Axis" (ie Warsaw Pact) list starting at no 7.

Also, creating new majors in the editor has unexpected effects on units.

1) Altering the order of majors in the list changes the belligerences, and this can affect OOBs - I found the USA and UK deployments in Germany vanished because certain majors lost belligerence, so it was no longer valid for their units to be on another country's territory.

2) It also affects the nationality of units loaded onto amphibious transports. In my scenario setup I have several AVLs of Russian Special Forces units. Now I have altered the list of majors, the units loaded on to AVLs have turned into Turkish units.

Hi The Land,

Could you send me a link to the latest version of your campaign with exact instructions on how to repeat the segmentation error?

I should be able to quickly sort it out for you.

1) and 2) I'll add these to my list of things to fix as well, thanks for pointing them out.

Hubert

For 1) can you confirm it was just a change in the order of the MAJOR ID list and not a movement of a major to the minor column or vice versa? I just ask since it looks like the belligerence status check should only be checking when it is the latter set of checks etc.

Thanks,
Hubert

Yes, I can confirm re-ordering doesn't have any impact, I think it's connected with adding a major and then re-ordering subsequently.

Thanks and I have fixed the issue with Yugoslavia.

If you are able to repeat the issue on the adding of a major and re-ordering that would be great as I am unable to do so. Other than if I reordered an Allied to an Axis and vice versa, then it could happen as it would want to check for valid belligerents in that case etc.

I think re-ordering between factions is probably what caused the issue. I added Italy, Turkey and Yugoslavia and then had to shuffle them between Axis and Allied parts of the list.

Also, I have thought about it more and I think I need to retain Yugoslavia as a major - sorry! (If I don't, its tech levels won't come out right if it enters the war.)

No problem at all as it was still something to fix. Thanks for the extra info as well
