pmarvin -> action points' effect on permission to attack (1/18/2022 9:10:19 PM)

I'm new...running into problems not knowing how far I can travel in Move mode, yet still have sufficient Action Points to wage a ground attack. This uncertainty often leaves me to sidle up next to an enemy, fully expecting to attack him with several units, only to go to the battle scene and have only one eligible unit! My plan is busted, and it's too late to go back and "re-move".
So how can I know how many APs I need to leave available? Does that requirement vary with unit type? Terrain on battle hex? Other factors?

(Have read the manual, and searched on keyword action points, to no avail; if it's there, plz tell me where.)

When you select a unit to move, movement hexes which can be reached are in grey and if you can attack a unit within movement range, a red arrow appears next to eligible target units. Sometimes the arrow is not in red and I think that means you can attack but not a full scale attack, I think. You do need a certain number of action points once in position for the various types of attacks but I don't know those off the top of my head. Hopefully someone else can chime in with those numbers.
