Yeah, sometimes they just go SPLAT. Actual para's don't seem to suffer at all. Same thing when using gliders.
BTW The unlimited strike aircraft trick only works up to the number set in your preferences. Eg if you set a maximum of two formations, and then find you can't purchase any for some reason, the transport/ glider buy/sell trick only works twice.
