mdsmall -> Crimean People's Republic? (2/4/2022 8:23:08 PM)

Hi Bill,

When Russia withdraws from the war and breaks up into new states, one of them is the Crimean People's Republic. The curious thing is Crimea has no city which could become their new capital. Consequently, they do not show up on the Diplomacy menu as a minor and thus no Major can declare war against them. Is this an intentional feature of the game?

If one was to give Crimea a capital in a mod, where should it be? Sevastopol might seem logical but it is a Fortress, so it can't be changed to a capital city. Simferopol? Kerch? Does anyone know the history of this short-lived Republic?

Michael

Crimean People's Republic was a short lived affair. It got flooded with 'White' elements and Entente Interventionalists. Still, within the scope of this game..pre-Russian Civil War......I would nominate Simferopol as the capital in a mod. Crimean Tartars were one local group in the area that wanted autonomy at the very least...but there were a variety of interest groups vying for the piece of very strategic real estate.

Perfect template for a Russian Civil War game...but that's another topic. [:D]

Thanks for mentioning this, it is scripted to make Sevastopol the capital, but as that isn't working I'll change it to Simferopol.
