LOK32MK -> New and Updated Scenarios (2/11/2022 7:40:35 PM)

All,
I have created and updated several scenarios.
They can be downloaded from here:
https://lok32mk.wixsite.com/toawscenarios
(Let me know if you have issues downloading them: lok32mk at gmail dot com)

2012 Operation Balyoz: Battalion/Regiment level scenario simulating a plan by the Turkish 1st Army to create a crisis and invade Greece. 10 km/hex, one day turns.

1941 Marita-Merkur: Brigade-Division level scenario simulating the German invasion of Greece and subsequent airborne invasion of Crete. 10 km/hex, one day turns.

1974 Operation Attila: Battalion level scenario simulating the Turkish invasion of Cyprus. in 1974 (code name: Operation Attila). 2.5 km/hex, half day turns.

1922 Greco-Turkish War: Regiment-Brigade level scenario simulating the Greco-Turkish war in 1922, 10 km/hex.

1939 European Theater of Operations: A "what-if" Division-Corps level scenario simulating WW2 in the European Theater of Operations. 10 km/hex, one week turns.

1988 Global War Wargame-Western and Southwestern Theaters: Division/Brigade/Regiment level NATO-Warsaw Pact scenario in Western and South-Western Theater of operations. 10 km/hex, one day turns.

Also included are my COW 1988 Global Conflict scenarios (Europe-Middle East and Pacific) converted to TOAWIV.

Let me know if you want to play test any of them or if you have any feedback/comments.
Thank you!

Hey Haris:
Thank you very much for your contributions to the wargamming community. You're worth your weight in gold.

LOK32MK -> RE: New and Updated Scenarios (2/12/2022 12:53:03 PM)

Thanks Larry and thank you for playtesting the scenario with me. My contributions pale in comparison to yours, Bob's and others who managed to keep this game alive for so many years. Hopefully we can continue to do so.

Bullseye! This is exactly what I was hoping for. Thank you so much! And thanks for the database as well Larry!

Are any of the modern ones set up with a po

LOK32MK -> RE: New and Updated Scenarios (2/17/2022 8:23:33 PM)

I am afraid not. The scenarios were designed for PBEM. They are too complex for the PO and I did not optimize for the PO.

1939 European Theater of Operations: A "what-if" Division-Corps level scenario simulating WW2 in the European Theater of Operations. 10 km/hex, one week turns.

regarding this scenario, it looks very nice but at least the 10th Panzer division has Tiger and Panther tanks in August 1939...

fulcrum28 -> RE: New and Updated Scenarios (2/18/2022 1:33:18 PM)

is there any way to increase the scroll speed? large maps are difficult to visualize or move units to distant places because the scroll movement with cursor keys is very slow.

I may have misunderstood your question. Some of the small modern scenarios work with the PO (2012 Operation Balyoz, 1974 Operation Attila). The large ones (1988 Global War Wargame-Western and Southwestern Theaters etc.) do not work with the PO.

Yes, I know. Orders of Battle and tables of organizations (TOEs) are a snapshot in time. There was no attempt to try and reproduce the complex destruction and reorganization of units and armies over time. In some cases, extra units or equipment were added to the OOB and TOEs to increase playability. The scenario does not try to accurately recreate history.
I understand everyone has their own preferences.

For scroll speed try setting the map to 2d Small and Possessions turned to Invisible. As I understand it the screen graphics are refreshed with every unit icon move, so the less to refresh the quicker it moves. Also, using the Jump screen is useful on large maps.

For faster aircraft and train movement, set Caps Lock to on.

Have you tried the Jump Map?

IIRC, disabling city names / place names temporarily will increase the scrolling speed dramatically, as will temporarily hiding unit icons, airfield icons, weather, hex sides, etc.

Bob, thanks for your reply.

I also think that the mini map should be the most useful tool to navigate across the map...
Unfortunately, it is not...because when I want to search a specific place, I have to hover with the mouse pointer "exactly" on the red arrows of the mini-map narrow frame...which makes it incredible unpleasant and time consuming. If this problem is only in my installation, and there is another way to easily navigate using the mini-map, I would appreciate it if you can kindly explain me.

Thank you.

Hellen_slith, thanks for the hint, I will try this way too.

Fulcrum28, I realize I may have given the wrong answer to your comment. Although it is true the scenario does not try to accurately recreate history, I do welcome feedback and would like to improve it. So, I do agree with you that Tiger and Panther tanks in August 1939 should not be in the TOEs. I will try and correct it in the next version. If you have additional comments/suggestions, please send them to me or post them here.
Thanks

Thank you LOK32MK for considering my comment.

Europa Aflame is also a massive scenario for the entire WW2. I think they set up the divisions with Tiger/Panther as 0 units at the beginning and they progressively appear when time passes as replacements. That could be a way to address the OOB dynamically at least for the most notorious equipment.

Just to clear something up: Replacements for advanced weapons are roughly aligned by year of early production so even if a unit has Tiger tanks in 1939, they will not get replaced until later in the war (e.g., for Tiger I in 1942 and Tiger 2 1944).
To be completely honest I got a bit lazy with the TOEs towards the end of the scenario testing/design. I was trying to make some German divisions stronger in 1939-1941 and that was an easy way out. I am going through the OOB and correcting it, but I might leave a token few advanced weapons in 1939.

fulcrum28 -> RE: New and Updated Scenarios (2/22/2022 2:39:30 PM)

Thank you LOK32MK for your clarifications. By the way I was testing modern warfare scenario such as the NEXT war 1979, and I realized it is quite bloody for armor combat.
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=5150141
Did you test whether your massive scenario for the cold war is also so bloody?

LOK32MK -> RE: New and Updated Scenarios (2/22/2022 4:57:33 PM)

The short answer is yes. My 1988 Global War Game (NATO-Warsaw Pact) scenario results in significant losses amplified by combat density losses.
