z1812 -> Classic PBEM not working. (2/19/2022 12:28:15 PM)

My Friend and I have been playing PBEM using the classic PBEM option for a few years now.

A few weeks ago it stopped working. We have both reinstalled the game and it still doesn't work. Any ideas.

z1812, through Matrix or actual emailed game files?

Hi Cap'n, Thanks for your reply. We play with actual emailed game files. We have been playing this way for many years without a problem. We both are both quite comfortable with digital technology and so we tried various approaches to find a solution to, or the cause of the problem.

We both have reinstalled the game. We have tried with archived files that worked previously, yet we cannot identify the problem. I am by no means an expert, but I think something in the code may be broken.

The weird thing is we haven't touched that code in years for both types of PBEM and now all sorts of folks are having problems. Are there any error messages? Are the files being passed getting stopped/changed by AV or Windows? This is such a weird problem given the situation. I will pass this on to Rob to take a quick look, but we have been baffled by the PBEM++ issues.

We play classic PBEM. The file does not work when loaded. There are no errors that I have encountered. The file just doesn't work.

Have there been any changes to the PBEM system lately to accomodate new games?

None I am aware of. Can you post a couple of PBM files for us to look at?
