Cavalry Corp -> 42 Offensive N or S? (2/20/2022 4:45:15 PM)

Quick Question break through in the South Kharkov achieved early June...

Ok we can head toward Moscow BUT can someone tell me if the cutting of the oil to the Soviets has a big effect as most bizzare I think it did nothing in WITE 1

Please advise someone?

Oil is irrelevant for both sides. It has 0 effect.

Ok maybe they should look at it at least denying it to the Russians should have some effect at least -

In theory it should. Same rules should apply to an Axis.
Probably there are higher priorities for a dev team right now.

Yes happy for it to cut both ways.

another thing would be for the objective to be set by the politicians for the 42 offensive say by making the VP worth more but the other side does not know - that would be good.

Based on what Loki did to me in our 42 time period I’d either stay put, slowly gobbling up 2-5 units every turn or 3 OR only go for broke if an auto victory is in sight. If you go for the middle ground you’ll likely end up like history - exposed further away from your supply sources and with a more stretched out force, which is less fortified and supplied (makes it virtually impossible to make ground against as the Soviets in 43). My 2p anyhow!

Not an expert but my preference is limited attacks in 42, focusing on reducing the Red Army numbers by small encirclements and taking any attack that deals a lot of manpower damage. If your successful the soviets wont be able to stop offensives anywhere in 43.

What is needed for auto win in 42?

Watching TV last night - Hitler ( in secret recordings) was v disapointed that Russia did not fall in 41 and wanted a total victory in 42. Maybe the game should not allow you to sit tight though for sure some generals would have liked that. seems gamey to me.

One thing to do that would be make Moscow worth more pts in 42 and more importantly make the cutting of the oil more significant for a game of such detail this is disappointing that it has no effect. So where are the Soviets getting al their oil from?

DarkHorse2 -> RE: 42 Offensive N or S? (2/22/2022 9:23:25 AM)

I guess you would need to load the scenario as the Soviets and take a peek?

Also, by mid '42, the Soviet oil stockpiles may be so high that cutting off supply in the south may take some time before they even notice. Plus, you really have to drive deep to reach the high producing oil fields.

Where do you stand on Leningrad? I find that once I have that secured it really frees up a bunch of forces for other tasks. Plus it is easier to defend once taken.

Makes a lot of strategic options available.

Leningrad not taken but just taken Sebastapol 2nd June I think.

5.2 m Russian out I think I am on 900k - very little armour loss but very short of trucks still ( partly due to the bug just fixed) . 76,000 in repair.
