I figure most of you guys have played Gary Grigsby's Pacific War, but I was also wondering if anyone else here remembers the more recent P.T.O and P.T.O 2 by Koei. The games were on PC SNES and Sega. I know they aren't nearly as grognard(y) as Pacific War, but they were enjoyable. Especially for whippersnappers like me, "back in the day". Later Gee

caine -> (9/19/2003 9:49:10 PM) Yes, I have played PTO II and it was quite good.The idea of arguing agains other members of the government in order to achieve more budget and resources allocated to navy was very original.The search zones of planes was also a good idea and it gave a well done sense of immediate thrill while maintaining the feeling of control over your carrier planes.The naval battles were also very amusing while taking control over your individual ships.It included also the possibility of forming your ships inside every task force into formations (circular, line, double-line,...). On the other hand, it was a pity that you could not control Army Air Forces.Besides that, the AI was also too easy to win against and the graphics were of average quality.The land combat was very simplified and also the air to ground forces combat. But if you like carrier and naval battles it is a very thrilling game.

demonterico -> (9/19/2003 11:25:51 PM) Playing PTO on my Super Nintendo is how I learned to love the South Pacific. Unfortunately the AI is hopelessly stupid, however it was always my plan to try the game playing both sides. Although now it looks like UV and later WitP have put an end to that idea.

Alex Gee -> (9/20/2003 10:12:19 AM) You could download an emulator and rom, but you have to own the game to do it legally. It is much better on SNES, at least so I've heard.
