In the time before railroads, the ability to move material was severely limited.
What you are calling 'land trade' simply isnt comparable with the volume of the sea trade.

My own opinion is that ANYTHING that hurts England is good, no matter how much it hurts you also.

You may find the 'contemptible little army' very hard to deal with, should
they decide to land anywhere near you. Dont help him.
