I saw a Viet Nam program on the History Channel that covered some of the 101st's exploits there. Seems that just as the Germans feared and respected the "Men in Baggy Pants", the Viet Cong singled out the enemy who wore the bird patch on their shoulder. They weren't familiar with eagles so they dubbed them "Chicken Men".
