Ghighio; I would suggest you play the tutorials first, they are the best way to get your feet wet. Don't forget to get the writeups for each tutorial. Good Luck

Wild Bill -> RE: (2/20/2004 6:40:59 AM)

The very first tutorial is designed for just that purpose. There is a corresponding section in the SPWAW manual that tells you what to do and then what happens. You learn the basics of moving, firing and gaining objectives. Nothing fancy, but enough to get you going.

Hi ghighi0! Welcome to the forums!

I have a few suggestions as far as small and relatively simple scenarios to get started. I don't know if you are the tutorial type--I skipped them, but referred back to them later when I ran into more complex issues, like handling engineers or managing artillery.

A good small scenario to start with is #203 in 8.0, Wild Bill's "A Royal Tiger." It's a short intense firefight (12 turns) that pits German tanks against the Soviets.

Another small scenario that is a little more involved, and deals with combined arms is Redleg's "To Kill a Tiger" where some US Airborne units and a platoon of Shermans deal with German Paratroopers and some Tiger tanks. I looked for it in the 8.0 package but didn't see it. I tried to upload it to the forum as a zip, which the forum won't allow and then a gif or jpg in the hopes you could download and rename it, but the server errored out. If you are interested in getting it, I can email it to you if you shoot me your address.

The last suggestion if you are interested in taking a stab at campaigns would be to try Wild Bills "Flesh and Steel" campaign under the Campaigns section. One of the other guys on the forum has this campaign listed in his tagline as the "Tanks at Munda" campaign. It is a short (two or three scenarios, I think) campaign with small maps that really give you a feel for combined arms and the basics of campaign management.

Hope this helps!

Hi IBTyrone.

“How to kill a Tiger” is one of the Tutorials actually not showing in Spwaw 8.0.
And just for good order’s sake, the scenario’s designer is not Redleg, but Fabio Prado.

All the tutorials will be moved back in scenarios’ list, with the incoming patch.

Hi Resisti.

I think the one I was referring to was different than the one you are. The title of the scenario is "To Kill a Tiger" not "How to Kill a Tiger." I'll post the text from the accompanying description for better explanation. Take a look at it and let me know if it is the same.

------------------------------------------
___TO KILL A TIGER*
___US Aslt Germany*
____September 1944*
_____Pure Fiction*
____For Version 7.1*
_______15 Turns*
_Scenario Design: Redleg*
__Artifice@fireserve.net
**

A fictional company-sized battle that takes something more than an hour to play. Should be
played with all settings turned on except C/C. Human should play the U.S. side.
**

Take command of a U.S. airborne company supported by a platoon of Shermans. They will
need skillful leadership as they attempt to drive an FJ unit from their positions. If the
rumor that Tigers are in the area is reliable, it will be a very difficult fight.
**

You will receive extra credit for all German casualties produced. Some v-hexes are worth
very few points, others are valued at 100 points. Good luck and good shooting will be
required.

Which version have you got? v8 does not have most of the tutorials. I, or someone, could send you them if required.
