EDIT (Because of the next post):If your system is a Mac, then ignore this post. If you can play the game in offline, then the issue lies with either: 1) Connection 2) Playgate (the app that connects you) 3) Your Internet Browser 4) Playnet Account I realize you don't want to jump through hoops :) but if you decide to...here's the things to try: 1) Connection This is the most likely cause. There is a file called wwiiol_netcheck.bat in your WWIIOL directory. This tests your connection to the authentication server and the game server. It runs basic traceroutes and pings. A lot of people run a firewall (either zone alarm or a router). WWIIOL uses TCP ports 27015-27020, if you need to open up ports. For ZoneAlarm, you need to either disable it or manually tell it to allow playgate and ww2.exe access through it. 2) Playgate Make sure you didn't install the game into a directory that has spaces anywhere in the path. (i.e. c:\program files\wwiiol). "Program Files" will cause playgate to get lost trying to execute the ww2.exe. Normally it just loads the game in offline mode, but maybe with this new version it's causing the hangs. 3) Your Internet Browser The file nplaygate.dll (or something close to that...can't remember) should be in your browser's plugin directory. Also, activeX has to be enabled in your security settings. 4) Account This is the least likely problem. If there was an account problem, it would give you an error as soon as Playgate accessed the authentication server. The only real way to test this is to try connecting on another box, or using someone elses known good login on your box.
