KG Erwin -> RE: The Rules (please read this before posting) (2/20/2004 7:27:07 PM)

I did what had to be done before this forum turned into a troll-fest. However, if someone starts up nonsense like that in future, I will go to the administrators and let them take care of it before things get out of hand.

Define nonsense. Relevant criticism towards the latest OOB is not allowed?

Nonsense like what exactly Erwin?

Asking what the universal standard for the OOBs is?

I think you would do well to reread what Vic had to say. You are a moderator here KG. That means that you work for US not that this is YOUR kingdom to hammer YOUR views.

Or there'll be a lot fewer kids in the swings is what I am seeing....

I want to state clearly I want nobody to leave or threaten to leave or change their views based on my and Erwin's exchanges.

I have some questions I would like to see answered and that is all.

I would also like to apologize to anyone I offended and also to say that I am saddened it took the devolution of the OOBs and the shunning and maltreatment of a friend of mine to bring me back. I missed a lot of you guys.

Ammosgt really should have been treated better by the OOB powers that be IMHO she does cite and happily shares references upon request.

regards,
sven

I think you have missed something...

...but deleting and editing user's posts is in all but one case (i.e. porn) flat out wrong in any way shape or form according to our policy...

VicKevlar -> RE: The Rules (please read this before posting) (2/20/2004 8:06:34 PM)

Alright kids knock it off........the issue is now resolved.

In what way do they take advantage of voicing their opinions?

Wow! What has happened here?

How many posts have been deleted since you're calling out for "freedom of speech"?

Jamen goddav igen.

En 3 stykker vil jeg tro. Men det er nu ikke rigtig selve problemet, som du nok kan se.

Not really [;)]

hogg -> RE: The Rules (please read this before posting) (2/21/2004 1:37:40 AM)

If you would permit me, here are some thoughts of a noob.[>:]

Freedom of speech? Not here. This is Matrix's playground. They paid for it. It is their ball. They have money tied up in this company thing, and own the rights to SPWAW. An outbreak of unpleasantness on one of their forums might make them look bad to future customers and investors. That might hurt future investment of time and money in SPWAW.

That would be bad for my favourite game. [:(]

Being a forum moderator is a thankless, lousy, job. Too easy going, the forum turns into a kindergarten that puts people off. Too heavy handed, it turns into a concentration camp that puts people off.

That would be bad for my favourite game. [:(]

There are very few other products (telephones, dishwashers etc), where the users can band together to tell the makers exactly what they think. It can be a useful tool for improving the product. It is easy for people to get into entrenched positions about their favourite aspect of the game, and even easier to become over-protective, if not abusive. When that happens, other people stop visiting, to avoid the aggro.

That would be bad for my favourite game. [:(]

On a personal note, may I thank the main protagonists in this for settling their differences, or at least agreeing to disagree, without the 'Yah, boo, sucks - I'm off!' ending that we have all seen so many times in the past.

This is good for my favourite game!
