Dean Robb -> Campaign scenario locations? (9/3/2001 9:34:00 AM)

Rather than just kvetch about the campaign scenarios being broken, I thought I'd see about fixing them. However, I can't seem to locate them. To be clear (before a bunch of folks say "in the scenario folder!), I'm talking about the components of the campaigns, ie: the location of the map/data files for the Morocco battle for the "Long, Long Road to Victory" campaign. I can find the named, stand-alone scenarios with no problem, but can't seem to find the ones for the campaigns. Clue, please?

Campaigns are located on their own folder, they can be found in the MatrixGames/SPWAW/Campaigns folder, the ones you're looking for all have file names that begin with C005 except for 1 which will be ucamp005.dat. The easiest way to change things is to open the campaign editor and select the appropriate one you which to edit.

Um...that doesn't let you edit the map files, which is what I was looking for. The campaign editor is a bit of a misnomer as it only lets you modify *which* scenarios make up a campaign. But I've found a method. You've got to copy the campaign .dat files into the \scen directory, rename them scenxxxx.dat, edit, save, rename back to cxxxx.dat and copy them back into the campaign directory. It's cumbersome - anyone with a better idea is welcome to speak up! BTW: It seems that somewhere along the line, reinforcement hexes for the AI in the included campaign scenarios got screwed up so that AI reinforcements are appearing in the player rear, often in the middle of cities - giving the player no chance to avoid getting it in the shorts. If it were only infiltration units I wouldn't complain - but we're talking armored and mechanized platoons suddenly popping up in cities you've already cleaned out. Not fair.... Hi I think that editing other gamers campaign is ok if you do it to your own use. Reinforcement hexes can be messed up if they are unused also Method you've found to edit them is ok, but easier way is to create new scen-folder and use Scenmanager3 for copying and moving campaign files. Fprados site has it if you already don't have it in your spwaw -folder. mosh
