cadmus -> A Question re: MCSE (2/24/2004 1:34:38 AM)

As I've worked my way through the other MCs, I've compiled a record of a few decisive victories, fewer defeats, and mostly draws. But I'm now nearing the end of the 327th thread of MCSE and I've scored decisive victories in nearly every case. My question is ...

1. Have I gotten that much smarter?

2. Are we seeing a kinder, gentler Wild Bill?

3. Am I in for a rude awakening when I go on to the other threads.

1. I don't know. [;)]

2. Are you kidding?

3. Start up the 506th and do the "Big Picture" large version.

Then get back to us. [:D]

Oh, dear. That's what I was afraid of.

Wild Bill -> RE: A Question re: MCSE (2/24/2004 8:32:27 PM)

Hey Xeno! Kinder? Gentler? As the old Duke used to say, "Not hardly" (a double negative but then the Duke can pretty well say anything he wants!).

No, you are getting better. The surviving troops are getting better. Those units not killed off are tougher, smarter and better fighters. Hold on to them. Just like the real vets of WW2, they are the real heart of your men. Use them wisely. They are worth their weight in gold.

Yes as old Jim has stated, the 506th is the real "heart-breaker" here. When you take the 506th under your wing, you are in for some of the hardest fighting you've ever faced.

So enjoy the moment. It won't last forver...or maybe it will.

Keep us posted, my friend.

There's just nothing quite like watching all of those C-47s come in, loaded to the gills, and you don't know who is in what plane yet, just that they're all your boys. The flak starts popping up every where, and you cringe in horror as you see 1, 2, 3, no 4 planes go down in flames before they even get a chance to unload. Was Capt. Winters in one?

Gawd, what a way to start a war.[X(]

Yeah ... that's kinda what I suspected. But, you know? I've had my butt handed to before in a lot of WBW scenarios ... a lot! But rather than put me off, it only heightens the anticipation when there's a new one of his, or any other "heart breaker" to tangle with. And I've seen that reaction in a lot of the members of this strange community. I wonder what that says about us.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll approach it accordingly ... sphincter clenched!

Wild Bill -> RE: A Question re: MCSE (2/25/2004 3:45:38 AM)

You'll do well. Good attitude. That is how I take them too. I learn as I go. Thankfully it is a game. The decisions made, good or bad, still play pretty hard on your nerves.

Yes, we all feel that same delightful tension and expectancy you mention.
