FunkyMonkey -> Question about Sound Update (9/9/2001 6:07:00 AM)

Hello I have downloaded the sounds upgrade file which is couple hundred megabytes. I installed it but then when I played the game, I didn't notice any difference. It sounds just like before I installed it. Did I install it wrong? What differences is the upgrade supposed to make? Thanks

Make sure you didn't nest the stereo sounds directory in the mono sounds directory. That is what happened when I installed it seperately. I have bass boosted, amplified speakers that I face away from me and bounce off the walls, so the stereo effect is lost a little on me. I would guess that those who have subwoofers and nice speakers on each side of their head would have the best effect. Perhaps going back to playing with earphones on might be interesting to try, that is how I used to play halflife, so that I could hear every footfall nearby and grenade being primed.
thanks, John.

ehm..hello!
Excuse me , maybe they have just told about this ,
but anyone knows if that sound files will be included in the new SPWAW version 7.0 ?
I figure it will be this way but I am looking for confirmations...200Mb are too much and I can wait if I know they will be part of further versions..
Thank you !

They are part of the current distribution of MCNA, I waited until the v5.3 disks were being sent out, and they came with the stereo sounds as the only choice of sounds. When decompressed the stereo sounds take up 500mb, pushing the SPWAW disk space needed over 1 gig. I am pretty sure any disk you buy from Matrix from now on will have the stereo sounds.
thanks, John.

I had the same experience. I had a good set of speakers + sub anyway, so my sound was pretty good with the standard sounds. Like you, I downloaded the file, and didn't notice any improvement,
