raydude -> is this game still alive? (3/1/2004 6:09:25 PM)

Hi,

Just wondering if the game was still being worked on, or if it has been pushed to the back burner for now. Really it's just an equivalent of a "ping test" to see if development is still going well on it. Any info would be well appreciated.

Thanks,
Ray

Yep, we´re working hard on it. In fact it just entered a new critical phase.

IronManBeta -> RE: is this game still alive? (3/2/2004 3:57:20 PM)

Our schedule took a bit of a beating and I ended up doing some work that was supposed to be done by other people. That definitely stretched it out during the last four months, as did my getting a major new project in my day job that is distinctly 'death march' in nature. Oh, and my wife broke her wrist big time three weeks ago and that threw a lot of the domestic duties on the home front over to me. I love her dearly and worship the very ground she walks on, but gee, she could have picked a better time for a slip and fall!

I was talking with David and Bart last night and there is a real 'hey, we are almost done' feeling building at last. We just need one more round of heavy-duty playtesting to validate the many code changes of the last three months and we also need to comb through the scenarios to make sure that everything is just right. The final art and sound is close now and the rules are 95% rewritten. We are definitely in the home stretch...

When the boards went down, it disrupted my normal routine of checking the forums - sorry about that. I'll try to be more visible again going forward. Now, if only my stupid day job would quit being such a black hole for my time I could throw more of my efforts into the black hole that is Matrix! Sure would be a lot more fun.[:D]

Cheers, Rob.

Thanks Rob and Mark!

I hope life gets easier going forward at this stage of development. For your sakes and mine :).

Sorry to hear that your wife was hurt Robert.

I think it is seeing the game advertised for sale in the print gaming magazines and on some game web sites that has us all a-flutter.....

It must be dead because no one updates this area be they developers or play testers. WTF over?

Everybody is busy working on it.

Why can´t you simply stop this nonsense rumor spreading?

I am a playtester for Flashpoint, and it is alive. [:)]

PUNJISTICK -> RE: is this game still alive? (5/15/2004 6:39:41 PM)

Any change for us to know when the game weill release?

IronManBeta -> RE: is this game still alive? (5/16/2004 7:31:09 PM)

Matrix has the inflexible rule that 'no game is released until it is done'. Since Matrix relies so much on part time and volunteer work it is simply not in a position to demand firm schedules. You can have one or have the other, but not both. I wish it was different but it is not.

I just put together a "final, final" to do list (last minute graphics, sound effects, music, animations, etc) for the project manager. Virtually all of it requires the help of other people to complete and that in turn all depends on the outside committments of those who we are relying on. I had to laugh when I was asked how long I thought it would take. My best guess is two weeks if everyone could drop everything else and just work on this. We know from experience that there is no one number that this maps to for a large group of people so we still can't really tell what it will take.

I wish the game had shipped ages ago but we have to work within the constraints that we are given. Is it frustrating? You bet, and it pains me even more to have so many frustrated gamers out there wondering about it.

We have a dedicated group trying to get it out the door as soon as possible. Beyond that I cannot say. Let us all nash our teeth together!

Cheers, Rob.

Just relax and take your time Robert, you sound pretty nervous [8D]

Let me assure there are many patient (or at least semi patient [:D]) wargamers out here, who'll wait for solid WW3 game no matter how long it will take.

Having said that, I'd love to be able to take this baby on a summer vacation, starting end of the June [:D] Wil it be playable on my laptop? Oldish P3 800 MHz, 256 MB RAM...

Greyshaft -> System Requirements (5/17/2004 12:15:02 AM)

This is not an official statement of system requirements but for the record I'm betatesting on a Compaq Deskpro EN with windows 98 and 128 mb RAM. It runs the game well but I wouldn't want to go any lower...

I think its running at 400mhz but I'm too lazy to dig out the documentation to check [:)]

Paul Wykes -> RE: System Requirements (5/19/2004 9:47:14 PM)

(deep sigh of relief)

Looks as if my humble PC will just manage to run this (400mhz, 196mb ram, 32mb graphics)

It`d be a disaster after waiting so patiently for this to not be able to run it!!!
