...flippant disregard of the customer. I KNOW SPWAW is FREE...

How does one manage to become a "customer" of a free product? Matrix-bashing is the rankest example of ingratitude I've seen in a long time.

OTOH, some complaints are directed towards "paid" products, such as the MC's (rich as an example, be his reasoning good or not). I realize you weren't being technical, but Matrix doesn't make just free products. Don't look at all complainers, as one might be wont to do, as somebody who complains about free products, as it's easy enough, for some reason, to link anything SPWAW, or anything Matrix with 'free', whereas it isn't necessarily.[:)]

Good point, Charles. Let me clarify by changing my comment to "SPWaW-bashing is the rankest example of ingratitude I've seen in a long time." [;)]

Yanks/Brits landed in Nov '42.
But it doesn't matter, the game won't allow me to set up a Fra vs US desert battle in 1942 (game thinks it is winter in umm France or someplace).

Looks like it's gonna have to be the Frogs (me) vs the Germans in western Europe instead.
Any slot, not over 1000 pts please.

Go Gamelin! [8D]

robot -> RE: PBEM (3/13/2004 3:42:06 PM)

Frank W i found that talking alot never wins a fight. The guy that stands there telling what he is going to do will lose the fight 9 times out of 10. Cursing and screaming at some one never wins the fight. The guy that throws the first punch has begun to win already thats if the first one lands. [:D][:D][:D][:D] Never wait till the oppossing force is to far with in your range hit him hard at long range. Say the length of your arm. This slows him down and makes him think very hard.

Let me as President of Matrix make this very clear. It is my view that after talking to Brent there is NOTHING wrong with Lost Victories. Its works and plays fine...

...except, of course, for lost leaders and lost turn-based scores, to say nothing of the irritation of the clunky save system. The lost leaders issue compromises the otherwise engaging role playing effect. The lost scores problem compromises the fine work that went into the decision tree system. Spent many hours on work-arounds, but finally gave it up. Haven't played an MC since. Many sincere thanks, and over $100 for Mega Campaigns, to Matrix for the gratis effort on SPWAW. However, as a paying customer, am legitimately unhappy with the programming that went into the MCs. Haven't committed to MCSE for this reason.

David Heath -> RE: Matrix would be nowhere without SP (3/21/2004 6:58:44 AM)

I am sorry you are not 100% happy with the system. Some of what Brent tried to do was not designed into the MC engine. Please do not take my comment to mean its perfect. It was more to state that the game can be played from start to finish. If you have an issue that you like to see if it can be address please email Brent at (brentr@matrixgames.com).

STEELER13 -> Thank you and quick questions! (3/24/2004 6:13:39 AM)

Yo David,
First off thanks to you, Matrix team, Brent, and of course, Wild Bill for all the fantastic work put into SPWAW and the MC's.
Secondly, having worked on two of the 4 MC's, I have to say that the limitations of the MC engine SEEM relatively easy to fix. Has any discussion taken place for a quick mod to the MC engine?
Third, with CL being hopefully a successor to SPWAW, will there be an MC engine included? Implications are that the game engine will have "mods" for each theatre sold as separate game units(a la Talonsoft's Battleground and EF/WF series), so does that rule out MC's?
Thank you![8D]
