Tomorrow at 9.00 p.m. watch to Raitre the movie "The enemy at gates", the story of Vasilj Zajtchev. A legendary sniper of the great Soviet Red Army.

Nice movie but it's a bunch of hooie. The german Major never existed and as far as Vasil was concerned There were better snipers than him in the Soviet Army. He was a convinient propaganda tool at the time. The Russians even said that he went on after Stalingrad to teach at a sniper school. That would be pretty hard being that he was blinded in action shortly after Stalingrad. But the movie is fun to watch!

you are reason. In effect there were better sniper in the Red Army. have you read the book of Anthony Beevor "Stalingrad" ? There are all the names of these sniper, but for his young age and for to be a hunter of wolves, Vassily Zaitchev was a perfect symbol for soviet propaganda. All the countries, j think, have need of some symbol, expecially in the war.

About Anthony Beevor there are other books: "Berlin 1945" and the last "Crete".

I liked very much both Stalingrad and Berlin 1945 by Beevor.

thank you very much for the response to my message. J have another book in my hands now: 25 July 1943: the fall of Fascism, by Dino Grandi, the fascist gerarca to sign the order of day for the end of Fascism in Italy.

j have noticed that this book will published also in the U.S.A.

Long live the Italian Cohort! You are all my brothers! I am sure I have a little Italian mixed in with this Irish-German-Swedish in me. Why not?
