Adam Parker -> Problems with Version 2.0 (4/5/2004 4:27:58 PM)

I just bought and downloaded the 89 meg file. Download seemed to go without a hitch and loading the game posed no problems. True Update shows no further versions. I have music.

On firing the game up by clicking its icon, I see the Matrix, Adanac and game front screens. I'm then taken to the scenario selection screen.

Regardless of selection made, I'm taken to a game screen which shows a map in what looks like an 800x600 window without any resizing buttons offered. No units or icons exist on the map. Clicking around the centre of the map moves the white hex outline. Clicking on the jump map however, makes the black map outline in it disappear.

Then any click thereafter results in an error window 'Access violation at address 005244F9 in module "Campaigns on the Danube.exe" Read address 07CE6434' - this address varies with each subsequent click.

If prior to this I click the "continue" button I simply receive pop-up after pop-up saying without a gap 'Corps under has been removed'.

I'm running WinXP Home, P42.8, 512MB Ram, DX 8.1. All other applications and games - (Matrix) HTTR, KP, HPS (any), Adobe CS Suite etc run fine. Matrix's LGA would not ever. I hope this isn't a Matrix Nap thing with me!

Any help would be appreciated.

Adam.

Left handed Schlieffen -> RE: Problems with Version 2.0 (4/5/2004 4:51:50 PM)

Try 1024 x 768 resolution.
When the intro screens are gone and the map shows: first click the army/corps/division buttons (they will show up under the correct resolution).

Adam Parker -> RE: Problems with Version 2.0 (4/5/2004 5:26:42 PM)

No that didn't do it. Nothing shows unit wise under any button. The map is totally empty.

Rainbow7 -> RE: Problems with Version 2.0 (4/5/2004 5:56:23 PM)

The window without resizing buttons is as designed (don't move it around). Did you install to the default location or did you put it somewhere else? Installing to the default cleared up a lot of the execution faults for me.

Try clicking on the strategic map.

David

Also try the latest direct X it is at 9.0

Adam Parker -> RE: Problems with Version 2.0 (4/6/2004 1:57:39 AM)

Hi David. Clicking on the Strat Map (I called it the jump map above) makes the black map outline there disappear and then all the pop-up errors start to occur.

Just to re-explain, once I get to the game screen after selecting a scenario, all I have is an empty map. No units or other icons. No units are listed using the three organizational buttons.

Rainbow yes I did change the default location so I may firstly reload it and try it as you say. I can't understand why this would be an issue though.

Mark, I've been loath to go Dx9. I bough Highway to the Reich on the weekend (this has been a good Matrix week hey?) and didn't load the DX9b offered on the disc. That game runs perfectly though.

At the worse case I may just have to write this investment off.

If there are any other ideas please let me know,

Adam.

Toby42 -> RE: Problems with Version 2.0 (4/6/2004 2:50:37 AM)

I've been thinking of downloading this game, but some things like this is ''scaring" me off[&:]

Adam Parker -> RE: Problems with Version 2.0 (4/6/2004 3:02:09 AM)

Treale there must be an explanation. Usually these things relate to unsound systems and though there might be some old drivers in mine, the system is as straight and well maintained as it can be and I think the guys at Matrix know I've always done my best to allay these fears in other games I own.

Korsun Pocket has a lengthy "issue" list and Highway to the Reich a smaller one. I personally am having no problems at all running those games right from the get-go.

It could be I have a corrupt download. The only other game I've never been able to have playing was Matrix's La Grande Armee. Also a Nap game! I really do like the look of this one going on the art and mechanics so hope I can get it playing.

I wonder if my error messages mean something to those with programing invlovement?

Adam.

Toby42 -> RE: Problems with Version 2.0 (4/6/2004 3:26:31 AM)

I haven't had any problems with Korsun Pocket. I have an older system (800 AMD with 384 meg of ram). Not a powerhouse anymore, but most everything works on it. The one exception is that I couldn't get XP to work. I'm still running ME.

VictorH -> RE: Problems with Version 2.0 (4/6/2004 4:01:20 AM)

Video Drivers are the usual culprit's.

Adam Parker -> RE: Problems with Version 2.0 (4/6/2004 5:47:13 AM)

Ok, I've just been reading the support thread here (I missed that last night) and it seems quite a few guys had the same problem as me.

It looks like uninstalling the game and reinstalling in the default directory only, may do the trick. I'll try that asap and post my results here.

Adam.

MarkT -> RE: Problems with Version 2.0 (4/6/2004 5:40:31 PM)

Why do you loathe going to DX9?

I have played the game well over 1 hundred times. I do have errors. But obviously, I do have it running. My system AMD 2Gig, with 3/4 gig ram, XP 128 Vid is entirely up to date in system things (drivers, DX and what ever) I find no backward compatable issues)
Your hesitancy to upgrade confuses me, but I am sure your reservations are well founded.

"IF" upgrading is an issue, it may be hardware related... or

I don't know if its possible, but try to down load the game again.

Mark
