The first question's answer is this: When SP1 first rolled out ages ago, you could either play a campaign covering a specific time frame, such as The Destruction of Army Group Center, which was set up to be done from the Russian side and was from about mid 1944 till wars end, IIRC, or the long campaign which let you pick which side you would command from that nations entry point till the end of hostilities. With SPWaW, you get 2 choices for what would be considered a "long" campaign... the WW2 campaign where you can now choose the starting point of the campaign and the nationality you command, and the campaign generator where you choose a side to command, up to 3 opposing nationalities, and IIRC the number of battles as well as start and end dates. The WW2 campaign will tend to flow along more historical lines than the generated ones. I'd have to look in the editor or encyclopedia to see what size "explosion" comes with those other 2.
