benpark -> ETA on patch? (4/9/2004 7:49:01 AM)

I stopped playing, waiting for the patch will fix the bugs. Any idea on when it's coming?

zed -> RE: ETA on patch? (4/9/2004 7:23:45 PM)

I have waited one week. Hunter says he finished the patch last thursday, April 1st.

Sonny -> RE: ETA on patch? (4/9/2004 9:24:12 PM)

Yeah, what the heck is going on?

We get one side of the story and no info from anyone else at Matrix as to what is going on. When directly contacting Mr. Hunter about the patch availability we get a reply of - you'll have to ask Matrix about that.

So we're asking.

This seem a rather poor start (game and patch situation-wise) for one of the first downloadable releases. The games I have previously bought from matrix have never been in this bad a shape (from reports here on the forum - I'm not buying it until it is patched and playable).

Very disappointing.[:(]

We like to test patches before releasing them. Just because the developer thinks he has fixed it does not mean its so or that another bug was not introduced. This happened a few times as we developed the current version. So just sit tight as we test this.

dwinston -> RE: ETA on patch? (4/10/2004 1:05:36 AM)

Is there a list of what the patch addresses?

David Heath -> RE: ETA on patch? (4/10/2004 1:10:46 AM)

We will post that once we are a little more along.

David

OK - at last an answer. Nice to hear. Thank you.

Matrix should not be blamed for caution on this one. Frank is a good game designer; but he has struggled for eight years to fix the bugs in his old ACW game, and it's still not fully debugged. I'm hoping that his new games will start with a better foundation and be more reliable, but at this stage it remains to be seen.

zed -> RE: ETA on patch? (4/10/2004 1:01:41 PM)

yes, I think its better to err on the side of caution. There are game companies whose patches create more bugs than they fix.

dwinston -> RE: ETA on patch? (4/11/2004 8:18:39 AM)

Zed,

I would absolutely agree. Also, at least for the games I have purchased from Matrix (KP and HTTR) the responsiveness and quality of the patches have been quite good. I am confident the patch wil resolve bugs in the game - I just wish the amount of map shown were larger!!

zed -> RE: ETA on patch? (4/11/2004 10:40:39 PM)

when I played SPI and Avalon Hill games my two favorite campaigns were Leipzig 1813 and Austerlitz 1805. I know 1806 Prussia fairly well and 1812 Russia. Never played Wagram. With CoTD I want to recapture the excitement when I was 18-24 again.

The patch really needs to come out soon. I crash the battle screen all the time.

Yeah I am waiting for the patch also, so I second that[:)]

benpark -> RE: ETA on patch? (4/16/2004 11:45:17 PM)

Even if it is to just fix the bugs that crash the game.

I'm trying to be patient, but my interest is waning with this one...

Ditto. What is Matrix return policy for digital downloads?

VictorH -> RE: ETA on patch? (4/18/2004 5:24:13 AM)

I'm holding off on buying this game until the patch comes out.

Will the patch be included in the new game download, or will it be a seperate download?

Hanal -> RE: ETA on patch? (4/18/2004 5:29:28 AM)

It is standard practice that the fixes will be in the new game download at the same time the patch is made available for those who already have the game...

Hmmm, with this game the normal Matrix standards (quality, service) seem not to apply.[8|]

benpark -> RE: ETA on patch? (4/19/2004 5:35:59 PM)

I'm a big fan of Matrix and a beta tester for one of their other games, so I really don't like to come down too hard on their usually fine products. I also like the basis of what I see in this game.

But-this game has more bugs than a Harlem flophouse. And Frank Hunter seems AWOL here on the board in terms of saying that the fix will be done soon. Not cool.

There were several issues that could (according to Frank) have been fixed within days of release-so why not patch the things that made the game freeze or rendered it unplayable? A small patch first, then another down the road that fixes a few lesser gameplay issues and bad GUI choices.

C'mon. I'm trying to be on Adanac's side here, but your making it reeeaaallly difficult.

MarkT -> RE: ETA on patch? (4/19/2004 6:54:40 PM)

According to David, the patch has been complete, and is being tested. This has been done within the first few days of release. Why blame Frank, if Matrix feels the need to test this. They all have their reasons... According to a post by Frank, the bugs were addressed. A patch in any form would be nice.

benpark -> RE: ETA on patch? (4/19/2004 7:25:04 PM)

Well, bring it on out!!

David Heath -> RE: ETA on patch? (4/19/2004 7:59:37 PM)

Hi Guys

The game patch has been updated twice since Frank posted that the patch was done. We will have the patch out soon so please hold on a little longer.

David
