DLLoveall -> Cont. SPWAW Problem (4/26/2004 3:36:28 AM)

I have not been able to solve this: I install SPWAW in my new home- built computer. When I try to run the game I first get "this operation
cancelled due to restrictions on this computer" error message, followed
by "invalid page fault" error message. Starting the game with mech.exe
brings same result. I have tried ver5, ver7, and ver8 of the game with
same result. The same errors and the game will not run.
I checked this error with Dr. Watson, which says program is trying to
access memory that the program freed or that does not exist. My computer stats are:1.8 Celeron, FICA MB with SIS645DX chipset, Geforce
Ultra2 video with 64mb ram, 256mb system ram(one stick DDR2100),
and onboard sound Realtek AC97. I have installed all the most recent
drivers. OS:Win98SE.
All other programs seem to run just fine, including dos games SPWW2
and SPMBT. The Close Combat series and East Front, etc. also work
fine. I have an older computer with a FICA socket 7 MB and a pentium
333 that runs SPWAW great( before anyone suggests just using that
machine I won't be keeping it) on Win98.
If anyone has any ideas about this I'd be glad for the help, as this
doesn't make sense and is making me crazy. Thanks.

Would this microsoft support article help? http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=216583
Also 'spybot search & destroy' program may immunize files and that miht also be the culprit, if you happen to use that program.

DLLoveall -

I am not that familiar with different types of hardware but might it be that the program doesn´t like the type of memory ??[&:]

Not to rack down on you, but if you have a new-built computer why install Win98 and not XP ??[;)]
