Colonel von Blitz -> German equipment in Czech OOB (11/7/2001 5:23:00 PM)

Hi!
I've been modifying slightly my OOB files, especially mortars. But I found some german equipment in the Czech OOB, which I'd like to put into use now. I tried to make them available in Czech purchase screen, but without any luck. I did everything similarily as before (I got german Maus tank into german purchase screen without problems) but no luck with Czech OOB. Any special tricks here?? -Colonel von Blitz- PS. this same post is also posted to OOB-forum, but I thought more people read this forum

In the OOB editor (the one that came with the game) under "Radio" you have a number ending with 3, like 93 in most cases with the german units in czech OOB. This is in fact the rarity rating of the equipment. A three would mean that the equipment canīt appear as a normal piece of equip in the purchase menus in SPWaW. Changing this to digit below three would make the equip appear in the purchase menu.
Ofcourse you have to change the "Avail from" date from December 49 (to whatever) in those cases, but I think you knew that.
Also, when you have changed the rarity rating you may have to change the "Class" of the equip. An example: the Tiger II P2Turm is classified as "14 - Heavey Tank" in the czech OOB, but the czech purchase menu doesnīt have a "Heavy Tank" sub-menu. This is much like the Maus, classified as "Very Heavy Tank" in german OOB, a class that wont appear in the german purchase menu, so you canīt buy the Maus unless you change it to "Heavy Tank" or something that does excist.
If you want you can also create your own "Heavy Tank" (or whatever) formation under the "Formations" part of the OOB editor, wich might be in place in this case. Itīs kind of hard to call a Tiger anything but Heavy Tank, eh?
Hope this helps! [ November 07, 2001: Message edited by: pax27 ]

Maybe a dumb question, but you aren't changing the nationality to German are you? And a 3 is okay, but you would need to make a seperate formation for EVERY unit with a 3 code, and that unit only. 1949 is okay too, but I don't like that, because then you gotta drag a book out every time to look up the dates of availability!

The nationality is still Czech, not changing it. I lose the national qualities this way when I'm buying Panther IIs and other special stuff from Czech OOB...but I see that as a small price if I can get my hands into rare german equipment Colonel von Blitz

Itīs not a big thing to change the rarity rating, you donīt have to, but doing so makes creating new formations easy. Put it to 2, I did and it worked.
The new formations youīd wanna make is Heavy Tank, Main Battle Tank, SP-FlaK , SP-Mortar, Assault Gun, SP-gun, Flame Tank, Tracked FO Uhu, SP rocket , Mineclear Tank and I think youīve covered all the units. I changed the Captured SP-guns to just SP-guns wich made about 6-7 SP-guns avaliable in my SP-Gun Plt formation that I created. The way it works is that when you create a formation and puts a Panther II in it, all other tanks tagged as Main Battle Tank will be avaliable in this formation (as long as rarity is below 3), same for Heavy Tank and SP-FlaK etc.
I did this out of interest after I answered to this post and it took me about an hour, all in all, heck you can get a copy of my czech OOB if you want.
The year of introduction is pretty easy to find on the net, check out URL=http://www.achtungpanzer.com/panzer.htm]achtungpanzer.com[/URL] for this, and/or search for the specific tank on Google or something (German Panther II Tank or something like that). Or ask on this forum!
I guess itīs all up to how much time and effort you want to put down in OOB editing. Itīs fun and educational
