I noticed there are two types of Tigers, the E and IE(Czeck OOB), what is the difference? Was the IE the prototype?

I´m pretty sure that the Tiger I (the digit one) E and Tiger E is the same tank. The full name for what we call a Tiger tank would be "Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger Ausf. E" wich pretty much means "Armour Fighting Vehicle no 6, Tiger, version E". The difference could be small changes made for this tank when leased/sold to the czhechs. Don´t know how the equipment exchange worked and if the caech ever used Tigers.
It´s much like the Panther G and Panther G Uhu. The Uhu (Uhu = Owl, the tank was equipped with with infrared night-vision devices) should be the exact same tank (wich is not the case in the game) with the small edition of the IR kit, or so my sources state.
This is what I´ve read and been told, but I´m human, so...

Well, the Tiger IE is available early, around mid 1942. TIger E isn't available until end of 1942. So I'm guessing there must be a difference or two. Does the Panther Uhu have advantages during night in SPWAW?

I thought the Tiger I was Panzerkampfwagen V, and the King Tiger was Panzerkampfwagen VI. Am I wrong? Matt

panther is the PzV, Tiger I is PzVI E, TigerII is PzVIb as far as i know the later tiger I's improvements were more functional and reliability than armor and speed related.

Tigers of which there were a few. Pzkw Tiger VI E (ordinary earlier version)
Pzkw Tiger VI E (L) (same tank with late war options like all steel road wheel construction)
Pzjg Tiger using the Ferdinand chassis made into the Elephant (1943) Kursk first used.
Pzkw Tiger VI B Royal Tiger also Tiger II The B is admittedly confusing as this is a late war Tiger and the thing was almost indestructible, normally photographed as blown up by allied air support.
JgPz VI Hunting Tiger using Royal Tiger chassis and a heck of a big gun
and lastly the Sturm Tiger mounting a veeery large seige grade weapon also Royal Tiger chassis type As for being used by other than Germany, hmmm highly unlikely (dont know for sure), but Tigers were grouped in special units of heavy armour and not at the easy disposal of anything but the more powerful german armour formations. Tiger tanks were the boogie man tank of the Axis. Every tank was a Tiger tank it seemed.

Pz VII = Löwe (never produced)

The sturm tiger was based on the Tiger1 body.

I am pretty sure that the Tiger in the czech oob is in fact a regular german one (like so many other units in that oob) and recall that the only diffence is the camo scheme used on the icon (grey vs camo) Patrick

There were early and late WW2 models of the Tiger tank, some changes were made, like the ones mentioned above. The early models had two MG34 and the late had three MG42, the late version had an extra 1000kg on the early one and a bigger (more horsepowers) engine.
The two Tigers in the game does not have any of these differences. The avaliability and the icon is the only real significant difference, so I made one the late version by adding three MG42´s...
The tiger tank went into production in July 1942 so i set the availdate to this for the early model. I guess you should use Tigers with discression until August 1942 thou.
One Tiger were sold, but never delivered to the Japanese, a few was sold to Hungary and there´s theories/storys of Tigers in Spain and Italy, but... These are a few conversions based on Tigers:
-Befehlswagen Tiger I Ausf. E (Sd. Kfz. 267/268) command tank
-Sturmpanzer (Sturmmorser) Sturmtiger Ausf. E - heavy rocket launcher/mortar carrier
-Bergewagen Bergetiger - heavy recovery vehicle,
-Tiger(P) - Porsche design (5 produced)
-Schwerst-Flammpanzer auf Tiger I - long-range flamethrower tank (planned)
-Sturmpanzer Bar - 305mm L/16 gun carrier (planned)
-Sturmpanzer Tiger I - 170mm Kanone 44 gun carrier,
-Sturmpanzer Tiger I - 210mm Moerser 18/43 mortar carrier (project)
-Sturmpanzer Tiger I - Skoda's 305mm Granatwerfer heavy mortar carrier (project)
-Tiger I - 240mm Kanone 4 transport vehicle (project)
-Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger II Ausf. B If anyone´s in for it, I´d like to see a detailed german OOB with massive ammounts of differnt versions of tanks, like conversions and prototypes. The Tiger was to armour what the 88mm FlaK´s was to guns. Every tank called A TIGER and every large gun AN 88. Thats fear for ´ya... I guess DanTepX got more then enough now

I know the "big cats" are already pretty dangerous when shooting AP ammo, but I've read more than once that APCR ammo had been developped for both 88L56 and 88L71 guns.
Why don't Tigers carry any of these shells, according to OOB70 v6.1 ?

Production of rounds needing tungsten (APCR - or PG40) stopped at the end of '42 (no resources). The APCR ammo was infact very common with early war German guns (from 41-43 about 25% of the AP ammo), but usually only the smaller calibers (mainly 37mm and 50mm). The rounds produced for 75mm and 88mm guns were so few, that there's no justification for having them as the normal ammo supply (not even a single round per Tiger).

The tiger was not really invincible. A decent mine could damage the very weak bottom. Also the rear and side armor was not good enough against late war guns.
