Darkmoor Dragon -> WWII Campaign - Cant fix Destroyed Tanks (5/27/2000 8:38:00 PM)

Bug or me being a thicky? :-) In the WWII campaign although I get the "fix/change" screen I cannot fix destroyed tanks. "Crewmwen" can only be changed into other foot types, but not returned into tanks or APCs/AFVs etc. The result is "natural" depeletion, which combined with a seeming absence to buy "all new" core equipment results in ones forces eventually being reduced to an Elderly Women with a broom. :-) The only way to preserve ones tanks is to constantly save the game and play it out so that you don't loose any, which is rather ridiculous in the extreme. Of course, this could all be down to me missing something in the manual and needing to be labelled as a total Dodo :-) Comments appreciated

This is a bug that has been discussed in several other threads. some players have invented ways to deal with this to some degree, but I don't really remember them (I'm waiting for a patch) Search the forum pages a bit backwards and you should find topics like 'campaign bug', 'extra crews' for more info. so you can be at ease about the thicky part. Hello, for now I usually save the game at the start of the next scenario, alt-tab the screen down, go to explorer and find the correct saveXX.dat. Change the name to scenXX.dat, (make sure it is an unused number),and go to the editor, open this scenario, you can change to whatever then, change the map, or theatre of operations, even what country you are playing for or against, also enemy composition. I have sometimes removed all the enemy forces, bought a more challenging combined arms force, then once I am done with all that I want to do, hit the auto-deploy for the enemy force, that way I at least don't know where exactly the forces are!! It's also neat to do this for better maps, without the retarded road layouts that the AI in almost every game, Talonsoft campaign series included, seems to come up with!! Anyhow, once you are done, save the game and rechange the name in explorer again back to saveXX.dat. Restart the save game and go!! Hope this helps ------------------ Mike Amos Meine Ehre Heisst Treue
