I've played Omaha, and Iwo Jima. I'm about to start the 2nd turn of Utah. How do you get the BB guns to fire, they are not even on the chart. I had FO units, in Omaha, but they were useless. Gliders in Utah. Do these show up on there own, or do you have to call them up somehow. Landing Craft, once they offload should I pulled them off via the retreat hex once there is nothing they can do at the beach like shoot pillbox crews. Is there a penalty for not doing so. I've read that at Omaha some pulled out, but others stayed to shoot up the cliff after saw how bad things were going.

haven't played those scens, so i can't comment on the BBs or gliders, but eveytime I offload from landing craft, i stick around and use the mgs on the LCs to suppress. They seem pretty resilient to enemy fire, and if you fire their guns first, you can draw fire away from your infantry on the beach.

YOu need to change the unit type in the editor of the naval guns to "heavy naval gun" then they will appear. The gliders should be set by the scenario designer to come on a certain turn, but changes to teh glider code after the sceanrio was done may require them to be "reset". See if they come in at some point, if not maybe WB can indicate when and where they should arrive.

I'm playing the CA-GE landing scenario (forgot the name) and 8-inch guns appear in the indirect fire list, but they're greyed out and if selected they show the message: "unable to bombard; level bombers may only be deployed before the battle".

Pardon the newbie question, but how do you change the naval weapons to heavy naval guns in the editor? And will this issue be fixed in V7.0? Thanks!

Go in the editor and use the "change unit type" to make the old BB guns "heavy naval Guns" Note that Heavy naval guns must be assigned a turn to arrive as they are pre-planned fires. This requires the scenario designer to fix each indivdual scenario. Unfortuantely as we try to move teh game ahead, some fo the older scenarios are left in the dust a bit. Its a rather simple matter to fix though.

Thanks for the answer Paul.
