I've been a naval history nut for over 40 years. Got into games over 30 years ago. Bought SPI War in the Pacific 25 years ago (approx.) and spent many hours staring at the thing set up in a spare room (Called The War Room) in our basement in South Florida. Only found one person who would be willing to put in the time to begin to play the monster, and I still have it in a box. Found PacWar in 1993 while in Seminary, and have been waiting for an upgrade ever since I began to have the Mariannas and Luzon, Mindanao, and Leyte secured at the beginning of 1944 gametime. Of course, in PW you didn't have to worry much about anything except a ship sinking - nothing about refits, yard periods, all ships got the same upgrades in AA at the same time, and they could steam at flank speed for three years. (Tell me to remember this statement when I {deleted technical sailor's term - DTST for short - as in "What the DTST are you doing!?!?!"} about a ship not being able to answer the call when I need it.) Other than that, since I can't drink, don't smoke, am too poor to gamble, and can't afford a fast car or , well, you know, either financially or professionally, this gives me an excellent opportunity to replace banging head against wall to relieve some tension. "Sink You Bloody DTST!!" Can't say that in the parish.
