Stuart Millis -> Online version 7 Idiosyncrasies (12/25/2001 6:57:00 AM)

During bombardments players are often given opportunity fire options for infantry units. Clicking on 'y' continues the bombardment. Saving during a battle: player one saves, player 2 is prompted to save and when he does, player 1 is then promted to save. Occassionally a unit is offered opfire on an enemy unit but when 'y' is selected the unit fires on a different enemy unit. During the end of turn retreat phase, the AI often continues a turn (using the retreating units)and offers opfire to a player. It seems that the retreating unit is rallied by the AI then it shoots at a newly spotted enemy unit. The opposing player is then offered opfire on this retreated unit. Vehicles that are loaded with infantry: opposing players are able to 'see' the loaded unit.
In pbem play the opponent is aware only that the unit is loaded. Large ordnance such as that of the Sturmtiger, is more effective if 'z' fired at an adjacent hex than if direct fired at the target. I was able to rout a UK Comet with an adjacent area fire shot but unable to destroy a jeep with direct fire. Online play is absolutely awesome. I heartily recommend it and the above 'problems' are more amusing than bothersome. Online play in v7 is very stable- more so (I think) than in previous versions.

I noticed the adjacent hex thing for a long while now, whenever sturms or brumbars ect ect are used against me, the troops i have adjacent to the ones being fired at ALWAYS suffer the damage!
The op firing at wrong unit in online game has been around for awhile too. [ December 24, 2001: Message edited by: Alby ]
