bob55 -> MCSE Save Glitch....HELP!! (7/5/2004 9:23:02 AM)

I've just installed MCSE, with SPWAW 8.0, and have a problem with the campaign. I'm attempting to play as the glider troops, and when I get to the second section, choosing for the Market Garden scenarios, as soon as I select continue, I receive error messages at the bottom of my screen that "oob*.*.data cannot be loaded". Once the error messages are complete I'm booted back to the main screen. So far, three for three campaign attempts.....any ideas appreciated!!!!!

wow...no idea except did you get the 8.1 update to add to the 8.0 version?...Now ...when you add the update...it will still say 8.0 on the menu screen. hope this will help.

Thanks, I checked using True Update, supposedly I have the most current version available. I switched from the glider troops to the 501st, same thing happens......

Try reinstalling? Maybe for some reason your install has a corrupt file in it.
Before that, delete 'steel.prf' from saves folder and try again.

When you get the ood*.data messages your save is
broken. You will have to go back to an backed up save of
the game.

Some tricks here are to.....

Wait when the game is saving for 5 seconds

Be very careful when selecting the save file for the campaign, sometimes
if you click to many times it deletes or mangles the save file.

Get a copy of my MegaSaver utility from the www.spwaw.com site
to help automate backing up mc games...

Thank you for the responses!

Voriax, I deleted the 'steel.prf' file, and played for several hours yesterday with the 501st. Other than occasional (three times) boots back to the main SPWAW screen everything worked as advertised, even after the main screen boot-backs the save worked fine.

Anthony, sounds like this isn't an uncommon problem. Thanks for your link, I'm going to head there now to download it.
