I wanted to go check 'em out...Atom Bomb's next :)

Either I've just seen the 'luckiest' kamikaze pilots in the world, or Kamikaze missions only seem to be intercepted by flak, and not CAP missions...It makes sense (to give them a fighting chance? Allied TF's put up 300 CAP fighters in '45)

What's the story? Are they home free, or did I just see a miracle (i.e: 20 flyers making it through 300 CAP fighters on 6 different occasions-no CAP intercepting messages..nothing)

It makes sense, otherwise Kamikaze missions would be just as worthless as conventional missions...as in none living to see the target..Just a bit surprising, and the manual states the opposite, but, it's talking about Ohkas..

Just did a quick test and got the same as you. I'll raise it in the dev forum.

Cheers

Just finished reading 'Kamikaze - the story of the British Pacific fleet'

One of the points that amazed me was how many times the Japanese planes would fly in below radar, especially during and after the Okinawa campaign. Several times the contributors to the book point out that their CAPs weren't vectored onto the suicide planes because the kamikazes simply weren't seen until too late.

Saying all that it does seem unlikely that CAPs should only be able to intercept conventional attacks.

Thanks for verifying and checking on it..

It's probably a bug..I dunno what to think about it..Kamikaze units were more effective than conventional attacks on ships..but, with no CAP interception, if you could piece together 200 kamikaze aircract, I think the damage you could do would go over the top, quickly...

It'd be nice if they could try to use a check against speed during an air combat impulse to evade CAP fighters, with every fighter passing during the impulse effectively being past the CAP and into the target for an attack resolution.

That way, CAP would still get alot of them, but, they'd have more of a chance of getting through-more effective, but, not unstoppable.

Just an idea..
