Jackk -> Question on SP scen and battle setup program (1/5/2002 12:16:00 PM)

Hi all, Looking over this program I like the way it diversifies the forces, but I have a question. Do the points for the battle seem exceptionally low?
For example, I set up a 1943 US-Ger battle with the US assaulting Germany. The program allowed for both armies to have regular infantry backed with 1 sec of TD/Inf tanks per 7-9 platoons of infantry. The US was limited to 5 batteries of medium artillery and the Germans to 5 batteries of medium mortars. Both armies were allowed 1 section of heavy AT and air was limited to 1 section for Germany and 2 for the US. Now, on the adjustments screen it said "Players will command 4-5 Companies" and the buy points were set to US-1410, Ger-1000. Does this sound even remotely right? First the points seem too dang low to buy 4-5 companies, tanks, AT, and air and would a ~1.4:1 ratio be right for an assault/defend scenario? Maybe I should triple the points to make it seem justified. This isn't the only time I tried it, but this was typical of the results it gave. Any comments?

Thats the only way ive figured out to get more points, is just double or triple them.
I dont know why it always sets so low points, but it does.
good program though

The best way to use it is to have the players decide how many points to spend, then use the programs force structure to buy forces. Alex

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll admit that after I played with it for about an hour I started getting larger points....but 2 and 3 thousand still didn't seem enough for 3 battalions with armor support and stuff Back to the battles......

The reason the points are so low is, that Scott Grasse made this back around, or before version 2.3!!! Nice program to provide a ground-work for building your forces though.
