Svar -> Are US A/C losses in the Philippines permanent? (7/8/2004 8:18:45 AM)

In trying to figure what the correct USAAF fighter OOB should be I discovered that there are 3 more FGs in Scenario #15 than in Scenario #10. In investigating the discrepancy I discovered that the fighter units in the Philippines are expendable. The 24th FG in Manila lost all its planes and the personnel mostly died fighting as infantry so the unit was never rebuilt. The 4 FSs at Clark are components of full FGs located elsewhere. So, if these units are destroyed do they come back or are they lost permanently?

If they're destroyed when their base changes hands they come back roughly a year later.

Can anyone who is playing Scenario #15 as the Allies and by now lost A/C units in the Philippines check the A/C replacements screen to confirm that they do in fact return 1 year later?

The two fighter squadrons that I've actually lost are due back in a year or so.

The caveat is I transferred them, like everything else that flew bar the Phillipinos, to Southeast Asia and I lost them there.

the only air units which don't come back are the dutch units. Otherwise, it is 390 days.

Thanks for pointing out the fact that the 6th FS is a Philippino unit, I will need to revise my USAAF FG modied Scenario #15 OOB. To answer your question though, the Philippino unit will reenter the game when either Manila or Cagayan is recaptured according to the manual.

It's not possible to save the Dutch units and have them upgrade, etc., throughout the years?

sven6345789 -> RE: Are US A/C losses in the Philippines permanent? (7/11/2004 3:48:28 AM)

according to the manual, the dutch units cannot upgrade before 07/42. Regarding this sentence, they should be able to upgrade if they survive the initial japanese onslought.

Saving Dutch surface assets and some of their base units is usefull. There planes are worthless and their combat units almost as worthless.
