Just wanting to know if there will be a hot seat multiplay mode in this game? My buddies are thinking of playing the game, but would like to do it at one person's house. Will this be in the game or will it only be by internet or email.

Pippin -> RE: Hot Seat (7/12/2004 6:06:51 AM)

It is currently in the game, so don't worry.

thanks, pippin

Also one other question is,

Does the game only play with simultanous movement or can you play the original rules (where france can pick first or last in land phase and britain in naval phase)?

Adamflo79:

We're playing the original rules for movement! Our original design had simultaneous movement BUT we decided (after much debate) to NOT allow it. The maintenance of both as options was costly.

Thank you

Glad to hear you are sticking with the original movement. The big advantage for the french is firstly the option to move first, and especially the oportunity to "double move", opting to move last and then first on the very next turn.

Cant wait for the finished product![:)]

Back to the grindstone!

Not really to do with the hot seat thread, more of a general comment;

I do not envy the poor sods who have had to programme the rules for this incredible game, never mind trying to formulate AI routines (well I suppose for France it just needs "Charge"). We have a regular group who play the boardgame, three of us for nearly 20 years together the others have come and gone and in two cases come back again after working abroad, and we still have "discussions" with regard to implementation of some of the rules. I would think it must be nearly impossible to programme every single tiny conflicting, not to mention optional, rule into the game correctly for release version 1.0, as I said after 20 years we still argue about them (though we are cursed with two lawyers in the team which could explain that!!). Please dont be put off by some grognard pointing out that rule 12.6.1(d).iii has not been correctly implimented, and that his Turkish levy donkeys have had their forage value reduced by 1/16th instead of by 1/15th.[8|]

Good luck,
