Fighter pilots commanding bomber squadrons? (Full Version)

I'm playing scenario 15 as the Allies. When examining my air units, I noticed that almost all the Bomber Groups and Squadrons have commanding officers best suited for fighter units. Why? There are many bomber CO's in the list where you can change the commanders.
I always thought that bomber units were lead by bomber pilots. So should I change the commanders, or does it really matter?

I posted about this also.....there is some affect on outcomes because of this and the nature of what we DO NOT know about these pilots in the code. I change them out. Notice that almost everyone at Pearl is mismatched on "opening day"? No wonder they got waxed! LOL

Well, I also seem to have some fighter units commanded by bomber pilots! [:D] I guess the CO's are chosen randomly and the type of the squadron doesn't matter. Or then there's something very wrong with US Air Force!

Its mainly for US units.....check all air units! Brits are usually ok, Aussies have a few mismatched, Dutch are usually okay. This is aggressiveness and competence are the only things we see besides the generic "best suited for ......." Underneath all that the rating for the other types of squadrons may suck so bad that it would be worth the PP to change out commanders. I do it as a matter of course to put the right person in the right job!

How can you tell if a leader is better as a fighter leader or a bomber leader? Which values in the editor control this in the game?

Click on the leader name and it will bring up a list of other leaders that are available. Check the ones at Pearl and in the boxes for each leader it will say "best suited as ......" This also works for any leaders including Land and Naval.

IIRC, any leader with an aggressiveness greater than 55 is considered as "best qualified to lead a fighter formation".

Personally, I tend to select my own fighter leaders more on leadership and inspiration, accompanied by a little prayer that any "very promising" descriptions may prove true. If they happen to be aggressive to boot, bonus!
