Montrose -> Aviation Support Question (7/24/2004 5:54:58 PM)

In UV IIRC when a base had inadequate aviation support then damaged aircraft were not repaired. In WitP from my limited experience aircaft are still being repaired even when there is very inadequate aviation support.

Can anyone please advise what the consequences of inadequate aviation support are in WitP? Is it just fewer missions, which is all the manual seems to say.

TIA.

Aviation support is only required for aircraft repair - you can base at (not recommended), and stage through air bases with no aviation support....

True, BUT keep in mind if you ever happen to get planes there, without at least 1 point of AV support, you'll never get them back out, they will simply rot away until the group sits at 0,0,0 aircraft.

Due to how the rules happen to work, there must be 1 aircraft in a group to allow the group to be transfered. [;)]

Ok and thanks for the replies. If I'm understanding correctly, Aviation Support now repairs aircraft adequately even when it is well under the figure it should be at on the base screen? If so ISTM that full Aviation Support is not really that important, just along as some small amount is there.

The more av support the quicker your planes will repair.

So in general it's important to have as much as poss, but you can run low activity bases quite well with less than the stated amount.

P.S. I don't think it works any different to the way it did in UV. What has changed apparently is that planes take longer to repair i.e. have less chance to repair each turn, than before.

It does work somewhat differently now as general air missions cause wear and tear on planes causing them to need to be repaired even if they did not take part in combat. The more you are short, the faster all your aircraft will end up on the scrap heap. If you go too far into the borrowed pile, aircraft will start getting shoved into reserve state, completely unavailable.
