I Earl -> CTD Problem (7/25/2004 5:13:54 PM)

This may have already been brought up but after between 10-15 turns in the full campaign my WITP CTD's.

Anyone else had this problem?

Any known solution?

We need details Earl. I'm not one of the testers/troubleshooters, but even us computer geeks need more info. List scenario played in addition to your system specs along with whether or not your drivers are updated when this occured. Helps get some idea.

Hi 2stepper

Well as stated it is the Full Campaign playing Japanese.

My specs are a Pent 4 2.80GHz with 512 ddr all drivers appear to be latest release.
No error message witrh crash, just a good old fashioned CTD.

Not sure what else to tell you as the system should be easily capable of this game and I really dont think the system is the problem. Looks more like a game bug to me.

MadmanRick -> RE: CTD Problem (7/26/2004 8:07:17 AM)

I am also now facing a CTD condition. I am playing scenario 15, as Japanese, AI setting is historical and I made it up to March 20, '42. This may have some bearing and I reported it to Pry, who also has save games of this issue, but CV Junyo kept reporting as having arrived, but was nowhere to be found. Then maybe a week after she did show, she vanished with no trace. Now in the turn after she vanished, I began getting the CTD during the unloading troop phase. My system specs are:

AMD Athlon XP 1700+
256 MB RAM
Win 98SE
SB Live! sound card
Radeon 64 MB SDR AGP video card

all drivers are the most recent

Perhaps Tech Support could replicate the CTD using the earlier save game I forwarded to Pry?

Thanks,
Rick

Could be wrong, but I wonder if these aren't related to the sound bug that's been so pervasive. Have you tried renaming your sound directory to NOSOUND? I'm hopeful that patch comes out soon. Its not been a problem for me thankfully, but the numbers of folks that have it, cuts the potential opponent list down a bit. [8D]

2Stepper,
I have not tried that, but I shall in just a moment! I will update the results. Thanks,
Rick

MadmanRick -> RE: CTD Problem (7/26/2004 4:33:29 PM)

I can confirm that this CTD issue is NOT related to the "sound bug"! I renamed my sound directory to NoSound and I received the CTD in exactly the same spot as the other 6 times. I also have combat animations turned off (and have from the very beginning). Any other feedback...anyone?

MadmanRick -> RE: CTD Problem (7/26/2004 4:47:11 PM)

Update....I was wrong about exactly where in the turn resolution phase the CTD happens. It is actually happening in the night Surface Combat Check-Adjusting Ship Fire Damage. As soon as my turn gets to this point...CTD everytime. I am going to try an earlier save and see if I can make it past this point.

MadmanRick -> RE: CTD Problem (7/26/2004 7:43:47 PM)

Alright....now from "he almost acts like he knows what he is doing" files...I decided to try a test, I uninstalled the game, with the exception of my save game files. Then I reinstalled it, ran the 110d patch and reinserted the save game files into their directory. Then I restarted the game and the turn that kept giving me the CTD. Viola! All fixed, got through that turn with NO problem. Now the question is what had I done to my original installation? Well, I had just 2 days ago installed a couple of the graphical improvements from Spooky's site. I am guessing that one or more of those items upset the game and it decided to perform a "sit-down" strike. Later I am going to reinstall each of those, one at a time, in an effort to locate the offender(s). Hopefully, I can locate the bugger and get the word out. But, for now my game seems to run fine again...barring any further work-stopages caused by irresponsible ownership! [:D][:D]
