sdj420 -> Barges and Barge Hubs (7/27/2004 5:19:31 AM)

Please correct me where I am wrong. This is what I understand from having read the manual on the subject:

1. Designate BASE X as a "Barge Hub" (Tulagi, for example).

2. When a supply ship is in the Barge Hub with supplies on board, click "Activate Barges" on that TF's info screen one or more times to create a TF of barges.

3. Change the home base of the Barge TF(s) to the current home base so they don't head back to the creating ship's home base.

4. Set the Barge TF to "computer control" or "routine convoy" or whatever is not "Human Control".

5. Wait and watch the Barge TFs automatically shuttle between nearby bases (6 hexes if they don't have fuel, 12 if they do) to keep them in supply without any other intervention.

My questions:

a) Do I have to set a target base as I do with normal routine convoys? The manual seems to indicate they will automatically go where needed. If so, do all routine convoys do this (this could explain my "routine convoy wierdness" problems)?

b) At what level of supply do the barges try to keep each base? Does it not do anything if their supply level is in the white, i.e. does it require the base to be in supply trouble before it starts to send supplies, or does it distribute "surplus" supplies?

c) I haven't found anywhere in the manual that described the context of the supplies needed number. Is it supplies needed per supply cycle, day, week, or month?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Supplies needed should be per month
Routine convois set their target themself if there's a base with need in supplies
