Crimguy -> Graphical Glitches (8/2/2004 4:01:56 AM)

Having issus with graphical anomolies. Seems that the map is not redrawing properly. Have only noticed it since patching to 1.20 (and now 1.21). Also seems to happen only when playing, quitting to do other things, and then playing again, i.e. no problem on a cold start of the computer.

Here's some pics to illustrate:

It's unplayable when this happens, forcing a reboot and a prayer.

Running Win2k, latest patches
GeForce4 4400, 44.03 drivers
512ram
Abit NF7-S rev 2 mobo (nforce2 chipset)
Thx,
Matt

I had this problem with every version. I just stopped Alt-Tab to do other things while playing WITP. (and save a lot)

if you alt-tab out of game, while the turn is processing, this may cause your problem.

Should have been clearer - this happens just by starting the game up, loading a scenario, and hitting Go. Sometimes the load screen doesn't disappear, and is superimposed by the TF, base, airfield, and port icons. Loading the intel page or combat report page doesn't help.

By contrast, When I alt-tab, the graphics look screwy, but eventually clear themselves up.

However, it only seems to happen if the computer is on for a while, and having played a bit in the morning, quitted, then restarted the app later in the day to play some more. This is suggesting to me that somehow the game isn't completely unloaded from memory and causing a problem upon relaunching the app.

Please update graphic card drivers if that doesn´t help you may want to updated your DirectX version too.

Well, I upgraded from DX9b to DX9c. Upgraded my GeForce drivers, first to 52.xx and now to 6220 (the very latest and greatest). I still have the same problem. Driving me a bit nuts. Only occurs if I run a 3d app before running WiTP, or alternatively run WiTP, quit, then run it again some time later. Here's my latest screenie, showing what I have when I first enter scenario 6:

I have an ABIT GeForce 4 Ti 4400 video card. I am using the 56.72 drivers with no problem at all. I have DX 9.0b installed. Wondering if there could also be video codexs that are giving problems also, like the audio ones.

Crimguy -> RE: Graphical Glitches (8/5/2004 9:30:28 AM)

No more glitches. Fixed (sorta). I figured it from your post I have to change drivers yet again. So I went with the 61.77 drivers b/c everyone is having such good experiences with it. While it has fixed the graphical problems, and my scrolling is now blazing fast in WiTP, the computer forgets the refresh settings for the monitor, forcing me to open the control panel or live with 60Hz (guess what I picked?). Also, my 3DMark 2001 score went down by about 700 points, but I really don't care too much about that since I can't discern any effect on my gaming goodness.

Thx for the help all.

SunDevil: I have found that this is only the case when you alt-tab out when the FIRST (after load, not day 1 of campaign) turn is processing. I have had the graphics discontinuity occur 5 or 6 times, but it NEVER occurs when I let the first turn process without pushing it into the background.
