Pier5 -> No fuel in U.S. (8/2/2004 5:44:03 AM)

I am playing 42A campaign. It is now March 1943. For some time, perhaps since installing v1.2 patch (not sure), I have not been receiving any fuel in the U.S. ports. Did the patch mess this up? Will 1.21 fix it? Have I inadvertently turned something off that I don't know exists? Help!

I believe the 1.20 patch had some files accidently copied over themselves by one of the betas helping out. The 1.21 will fix everything like no airplane replacements and such - which is what your no fuel sounds like..

This has nothing to do with the other mishap, and has existed since version 1.0, the original scenario designer forgot to add daily production of off map supplies and fuel, I have added this to the list and it will be fixed for 1.3

Thanks for the information. This leads to another question. Which scenarios are actually playable at this time?

Play 15, even if you completely ignore entire sections of the world, you are still learning what it takes.

Is Scenario 9 bugged as well? It starts on the same day but ends in September of 1943?

Pier5 -> RE: No fuel in U.S. (8/2/2004 4:11:03 PM)

Thinking about your response some more. Do you mean that I have had no U.S. fuel production for nearly 10 months game time and am just now figuring that out! Either it is one huge pipeline or I am really king dummy.

While we're at it, this would suggest that at least some of the scenarios have not been beta tested. No surprise here since I personally think a viable A/I is impossible, but the A/I is virtually worthless. I only hope we didn't extend the release date to develop THIS A/I. And the automatic convoy system! It really does seem that a few IF statements would have allowed convoys to be routed around enemy bases. Auto convoys for Port Moresby are routed within 180 miles of Rabaul. Great Idea! But only fair, as the Japanese convoys are great target practice for Port Moresby and sometimes just pop into Gili Gili for a visit. A waypoint system should be added for the automatic convoy system. 5th Air Force HQ was abducted by aliens while being air transferred from Brisbane to Townsville. It's not clear to me whether this problem was corrected by the patch, although it was a known bug at time of release.

For future complex games, I would recommend that beta versions be SOLD at a much earlier date. These nagging problems can be found by the hundreds of people that would jump at the chance to obtain the game and get started.

To answer your question and mine, both the 1 May 42 scenarios are screwed up, as no daily fuel and supply have been entered for the West Coast cities (page two in the editor for the cities). All the other scenarios are okay (from this perspective, anyway). We'll have to start over, but bring up scenario 15, note the daily fuel and supply rates on page 2. Bring up the scenario you want to correct in the editor, add the appropriate rates on page 2 of the cities and save it as a new scenario in slot 26 or higher. Should work fine.

Bit of a pain to start over, but the A/I is so sad, I'll play hot seat against myself. I'm not going to mess with pbem until the major bugs are out.

Thanks. I'll give it a try tonight.

Pier5 and Pappy and any other interested folks

I checked the scenario DB after your report and found that the original designer of these two scenarios neglected to add in the daily allied fuel and supply amounts to the US west coast and also India, also missing were the starting Japanese stockpiles of Oil and resources to make its production run.

I worked on fixing these last night and below is a link to the unofficial, official fixes for scenario 9 and 13 which will allow them to be playable until the next official patch.

These are not digitally signed, but then none of the scenario files are currently signed, these are what I will turn for the official patch but for now they are unofficial. I just wanted to make them available so folks can play these 2 scenarios now.

Scenario 9 and 13 Supply / Fuel / Oil and Resources Fix

Just unzip these 2 files into your scenario folder.

Pry,
I am copying your info to my own thread about this scenario as well.

Pier5 -> RE: No fuel in U.S. (8/3/2004 3:24:39 PM)

Thanks Pry,

I had already fixed the U.S. data base, but didn't catch on to the others. I wonder if the patch will allow me to continue with the old game? No answer needed, I'll find out.

Pry

Thanks again for the fix. I was able to pick up the old game just fine...maybe. Are the units for the 25000 daily fuel the same as those listed for the city or a tanker? LA seems to work fine, but San Fran gains very slowly, if at all. I checked the db and it is correct. What other demands are there of fuel oil other than active ships and tanker loads? For example, if a new ship reinforcement arrives, is it immediately fueled by the receiving port? Does a shipyard consume any fuel? If I have 60,000 fuel and I don't fuel any ships or tankers, I would expect to have 85,000 fuel at the beginning of the next turn. This is not happening. LA is obviously working, 5,ooo per day, but SF is suspicious.
