Donīt worry. It is "print on demand" provided by CafePress. So unless they donīt run out of paper youīre pretty safe [;)]

rogueusmc -> RE: WITP - Maps now available (8/3/2004 7:53:45 PM)

mongo -> RE: WITP - Maps now available (8/3/2004 8:53:52 PM)

Woo hoo!

[&o]

On order already [:)]

Once it gets here, I hand Kinkos another $10 for lamination and I'll be set for the winter [:D]

kaleun -> RE: WITP - Maps now available (8/3/2004 9:06:10 PM)

I'll get two, as soon as I get back from vacation.

freeboy -> RE: WITP - Maps now available (8/3/2004 9:27:34 PM)

hello k, are you taking your laptop on vacation?

Banquet -> RE: WITP - Maps now available (8/3/2004 9:29:24 PM)

Ordered mine too.. once it arrives it will have to be laminated so I can draw all sorts of impressive looking arrows all over it.

I'm not sure about playing myself in a hotseat game (as has been mentioned in another topic - I did too much of that with boardgames 20 years ago!) But I reckon I'll have to play out at least 4 different war planners arguing over the map..

'We must attack here *draws big arrow on map* and then cut them off here! *different colour arrow* Then, other me 'No, we must strike along this island chain *bigger arrow* and hit them where it hurts!!' *hastily draws circle on some island*

This'll be the final straw for my poor girlfriend!

[:D]

LOL! Especially if you guys play the Japanese side and accurately simulate the IJA-IJN rivalry [sm=duel.gif].

CTB123 -> RE: WITP - Maps now available (8/5/2004 12:29:33 AM)

I ordered a copy of the hex map. Now I have to figure out how to display it without my wife noticing it. She is not big on me buying new games, but a Digital Download is relatively easy to add to my collecting with out all the incriminating CD's, boxes, manuas and everything. A 3 foot map is a little more noticible

Stilletto -> RE: WITP - Maps now available (8/5/2004 5:02:37 AM)

Now the next big decision....

With hexes or without?

Brady -> RE: WITP - Maps now available (8/5/2004 6:12:34 AM)

Excelent! I was hoping to be able to order this:)

Tankerace -> RE: WITP - Maps now available (8/5/2004 8:17:14 AM)

I'd order one, but since they can't even get a cd to me I'm kinda hesitant.

Digital River and Cafepress are two different companies. When I last ordered from Cafepress they shipped all the stuff to GErmany within 3 days.

Do you have a better picture of each? I want to see how invasive the hexes are on the map. The pictures on the web site are too small to make out any details. I realize you are doing that somewhat to keep people from printing out their own, but a little more detail will help me decide which to get.

Thank you.

mongo -> RE: WITP - Maps now available (8/5/2004 9:31:14 PM)

My hex map shipped this morning! [:)]

I'll let y'all know in a few days...

There is a hex map out there on Spooky's site. I believe it's the real deal, so you can take a look at it Stil..

Toro -> RE: WITP - Maps now available (8/5/2004 10:39:26 PM)

Marc,

Know what I'd like to see? Same map with the ocean hexes a very light blue. This would allow us to laminate and write on the map, making notes more visible.

Just a thought.

Buy a white grease pen [;)]

Sonny -> RE: WITP - Maps now available (8/8/2004 8:47:35 PM)

Got mine yesterday and the hexes are, as you would imagine, small. Looks good though. Haven't got it laminated yet.

AlvinS -> RE: WITP - Maps now available (8/9/2004 1:39:01 AM)

When mine arrives I am going to mount it in a poster frame, the kind covered with plexi-glass. That way I can hang it on the wall next to my computer and write on it with a grease pencil. I have been doing this with my Civil War game maps and it works great. You can buy a poster frame around 10 to 20 dollars.

what civil war game are you playing? that would be a great next project for matrix! a turn based war game covering the entire civil war! they are one of the few that could get it right!

Well, the designer who did Campaigns on the Danube also did a strategic ACW game under his own publishing label (ADANAC)...perhaps it will ultimately be redone and published by Matrix

Currently I am playing The Civil War by Victory Games, but I also play the Great Campaigns of the American Civil War series. The one by Victory Games covers the entire Civil War.

I am playing these games online with a program called VASSAL. Its a great way to play when you cannot play face to face. With this program, you can play live, or PBEM.

The maps that come with these games fit in a poster frame that is 24 x 36 inches. I pay anywhere from 12 to 18 dollars, but it does a great job of protecting the map when I am playing face to face, but also allows me to hang them on a wall for reference when I play the game online.

I would love for Matrix to make my favorite Civil War games into a computer game. [8D]

Mike Scholl -> RE: WITP - Maps now available (8/11/2004 8:56:17 AM)

The fact that MATRIX is making a printed version of this map available is one of
the worst pieces of news I've heard on the forum. It means they are committed
to this God-Awful piece of junk with all it's inaccuracies. Has anyone eles noticed
that aside from the "made-up transportation nets" the "distance-warping effects"
are also one-sided? Not only is New Guinea/Pt Moresby out of C-47 range from
Australian Air bases they historically made the flights from---but Rabaul is also
completely out of B-17/B-24 range from ANY base in Australia---even though it
was regularly bombed from them in the actual war. It looks more and more as
if a "Japanese Fan-boy" put this thing together...
