Wild Bill -> The Old Ones...SP, SP2, SP3 (1/28/2002 1:14:00 AM)

Some folks still have and can play (no thanks to Win XP!) the older SP games. There is a fine site out there that still supports those games. Michael Feller has gone to great extremes to find those old scenarios and campaigns for SP, SP2 and SP3. Give his site a visit. I think you'll be pleased with the wealth of material there. He is a member of the SPWAW webring. Its worth it. http://home.t-online.de/home/michael.feller.frankfurt/homepage.htm Wild Bill

Unforgettable SP1 the ANCESTOR !!!
I am still keeping alive a DOS system ( eveni f in some windows systems it runs greatly ) JUST FOR YOU SP1 !!!!!! Thank you WB for the address..I will go and give a look !

Wild Bill -> (1/28/2002 8:20:00 AM)

My apologies Alby. Write the site and offer them your work so they can post it. I think they would be delighted to have it. I haven't heard from Ilja in a long time. I cannot seem to get in touch with him. I hope all is well and that we will see SP2 in an updated format, no matter who does it. You modern warriors can use SP2 and SP3 to create or recreate a lot of what is going on in the world today, including fighting the Taliban. They are part of the terrific group of classical wargames. as i had posted earlier, a very nice way of playing those old games under windows 2000/XP is VMware, which emulates a whole pc.
you can download a trial version at www.vmware.com.
it also allows you to play under linux etc...
very good solution for dos games if you ask me

Huffy -> (1/28/2002 11:42:00 AM)

Bill..thank you...I have been there,...and posted it in my favorites list. Boy..the hours of enjoyment I have gotten from those games...
Anyway....thanks...

Les_the_Sarge_9_1 -> (1/28/2002 8:38:00 PM)

Whats the problem with XP? I have XP Pro and I dont have any trouble with SP3 other than the graphics are so far behind SPWaW 7 that the game doesnt have enough grab to justify caring to play it. So I cant invade a Germany that no longer exists with Soviet Hordes that never actually fought. No loss there. To bad I cant play a game where a western army completely trashed a Soviet client state yet again oh well. About all I liked with SP3 was the game scale I guess. But if I have to settle for 1 tank being moved instead of a platoon, thats hardly a major disaster to me.

Unfortunatly, my system locks up with SP3. All the old favorites (Utah to the Rhine, Watchword Freedom and Heroes of the Motherland). The other ones sure would look good in SPWAW. (hint-hint).

I still dont understand why some complain about WinXP, I have no pronlem at all running SP1 to 3 and SPWAW.....maybe ur configuration is wrong. try this.... dont format or convert ur partiion to winxp FAT or NTFS parition. Use the FAT32 of win98 parition to run winxp...it is compabitile to all program and dos is still around.
